JediMasterEd
Just annouced today, there is an expansion pack coming out!!! " SAN RAFAEL, Calif. -- February 14, 2002 -- The great conflicts of the Star Wars universe become larger and more dynamic this spring with Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaigns, a collection of new scenario enhancements for last year's acclaimed RTS (real-time strategy) game from LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC. Expected to release in May on the PC, Clone Campaigns is inspired by the large-scale battles in Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, as well as the classic and expanded Star Wars universe. Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaigns features 14 original single-player combat scenarios, new civilizations, environments, vehicles, and more than 200 new units. By adding the expansion pack to Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaigns, in both skirmish and multiplayer modes, players can mix and match civilizations from Attack of the Clones with those from the classic Star Wars universe. "Clone Campaigns gives us an opportunity to incorporate compelling new Star Wars: Episode II content with improvements in the gameplay, much of which was gleaned from the tremendous feedback received from the player community over the past few months," says Tom Byron, director of product marketing for LucasArts. Clone Campaigns, as in its predecessor, is built upon enhanced engine technology from Ensemble Studios' Age of Kings®. The expansion pack will feature numerous technical improvements including upgraded shields, power cores, and new effects. Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaigns requires a copy of the retail version of the original game in order to be played. Eets
Not an x-pack, per se, but a Mission pack 2 new civs. My bets are Republic and Geonosians. If they don't put Jango and the Slave I in there, I'm gonna kill someone. Random looking Jedi would be cool, too!
MercenaryI{aos
You cannot avoid the inevitable. You have no choice but to accept the x-pac. It will be on my computer for sure, I have forseen it. Make the right choice, it is your destiny. Blah, blah, blah. Yay! 14 misions must mean 2 campaigns:confused:

Sithcloak
Yes! This is great! I can't wait, clone troopers, super battle droids, maybe even jedi starfighters? Starfighters that convert? That would be wierd. But this is some of the best news i have heard, probley 2 or even 3 new civs maybe some new a bonus or two to each of the existing civs? (Super battle droids for the TF?) I wonder if the unique unit for the bad guys would be a madlorian warrior? It would be nice if it comes out at the same time as AOTC but i think it might come afterwards. Lets hope the force is still with Mr. Gaber and his crew. Sithcloak
Artoo
I'm disappointed. I think they need to cover classic star wars. that I think is so much better than this prequal stuff. It's an expansion pack and that's good, but I was hoping it would be one to expand over the classic timeline. I'm a little disappointed but yay for an expansion pack. augusto
Dissapointed ??? Oh please. Why would they do classic trilogy civs when the next movie involves massive battles with new races, specially CLONES !!! What "classic civ" can be cooler than hordes of clone troopers ? Please. Dagobahn Eagle
What "classic civ" can be cooler than hordes of clone troopers ? Please. The only thing that's clear to me is that you haven't read a single New Jedi Order- or any other post-endor -book. Let me elaborate a bit on Artoo's post. What would be cooler than the clone troopers? Hmm, I can think off a good deal of things that would be cooler than a group of stormies that just happens to be clones. Such as hordes of Vong ships, Exar Kun, Wraith squadron, the battle of Calamari with World Devastators (wouldn't have to be drawn to scale you know). If you want clone troopers, just rename a ton of stormtroopers. It's not like the clone troopers have special weapons or different armors or something (the peoples had to capture some of them and realise how they all looked the same to start realising that something was going on). So yeah, I think an x-pack based on about 10 books with millions of fans would be cooler than one on a single movie that hasn't even been released yet. I'm not saying the x-pack isn't good, as I will definetly buy it, I'm just saying that you're walking into unknown (to you) territory. But yay for an x-pack, as Artoo put it. Rogue15
lol so much for our new civ petitions! they better add the TIE Crawler, TIE Avenger, V-Wing, Turbolaser (like in Rogue Squadron, or on the deathstar it fires green lasers), Missile Launcher (LIKE IN ROGUE SQUADRON!!!!). other units i want in are AMPHIBION, TIE DROID, WAVE SKIMMER, VORNSKR PLEASE LEC PLEAAAAAASE !!!!!!!!!! *gets on knees and starts crying 'vornskr'*, KELL DRAGON, Mailoc, Kyle Katarn, Jan Ors, Prince Xizor, Jerec, Yun, Sarris, Maw, Boc, Desert Skiff, Cruisemissile Trooper, TIE Phantom, E-Wing, K-Wing, Imperial Shuttle, Imperial Landing Barge, and that's all i can think of at the moment. Rogue15
oh, about the clonetroopers. They'd have some strengths that regular stormtroopers wouldn't have. They'd be faster to build.

augusto
Ehh, excuse me ; Dagobahn Eagle Bantha > The only thing that's clear to me is that you haven't read a single New Jedi Order- or any other post-endor -book. Last time I checked the Expanded Universe isn't really "classic" start wars in anybody's definition. As the original poster was referring : > I'm disappointed. I think they need to cover classic star wars This implies Ep. 4-6, not any of the EU books you mentioned. BTW World Devastators are cool, yet not classic in anyway, however they wouldn't be added since they've already said they don't want to put in capital ships in the game. I'd think the World Devastor wouldn't be added for similar reasons. And no, I don't think the Republic in Episode II is just a carbon copy of the Empire. > I'm not saying the x-pack isn't good, as I will definetly buy it, I'm just saying that you're walking into unknown (to you) territory. Unkown territory which sounds good, bring on the clones.

Guest PhantomMenace
Wow this is awesome, i am so excited!!!! 200 units, cool! Let's see, each civ has about 50 or so units so i'd say there are 4 new civs on the way, sweet...i wonder if any of them will be a civ that we have been asking for on this forum like Mon Cal and Transdoshan. I really hope they took my bothan idea...i really hope they included all my ideas like interceptor aircraft, anti-trooper heavy weps, submerging gungan ships, repairing trawlers and all the other stuff i been asking about. They say there's gonna be more improvements that sounds cool....i wonder if they will finally include the shield generator effect. this sounds great i cant wait til it hits the shelves. Maybe we will see a lot of the units you guys talked about but they missed like k-wings and b-wings.

Crazy_dog no.3
Yay!!!!!!! This is the only game (Apart from Galaxies, in development), were Lucasarts listen to the fans. After all, they also gave us the Tie Defender and patch we wanted. Oh, devs, can we have some more cheat units (like Simon and the guy on the speedboat with Garry's face on)

Emperor Dan
Guys, guys guys. I think some of you ideas are a bit TOO ridiculous! EU units will never be included in the regular game, but perhaps in the scenario editor. Why? The majority of Star Wars fans have never read a Star Wars book, so the game loses appeal. There are not millions of fans of the EU. Most Star Wars fans think the EU is pretty much crap, because it tends to contradict the movies and especially Episode II. Now, for the X-pack, here are some REALISTIC things to be fixed. 1. Please change the Gungan Turrets and Workers so they fire boomers instead of laser blasts. Perhaps even change AA so they fire something other than a missle. 2. Team Bonuses. I really liked these from AoK/TC, and I think they'd work here too. Along with that, I think having more "right from the start" bonuses would be beneficial in seeing the differences between the civs. This is very important 3. The Trade Federation should get a lower carbon deffiency, maybe 15% or 10%. I've found the TF is too carbon dependant to have such a disadvantage. Also, fix the Rebel Farm bonus. 4. Heavy Artillery don't have a proper counter. Too many expert games have turned into "who can make the most hvy arty" games. They do tons of damage. Either their range should be toned down, or we need stronger mounted troopers. Fix mounted troopers to be stronger and tougher to withstand trooper fire. They're also not quite fast enough. Maybe have an extra upgrade to the Advanced Mounted Trooper to make them a lot stronger. Going along with this, Grenadiers need to be beafed up more. 5. For those 2 Civs: I'm hopping Geonosis and the Republic. 6. More terrains. Perhaps a "Building" terrain to make something like Coruscant. I think more of this kind of stuff would help the game a lot. Shoudln't be hard at all. Along with this, more scneerio editor units, and nature objects. Lots more terrains would be great 7. A Random Map Scripting Guide. This will point out RMSing to others who have not played The Conquerors. Going along with this, I'd appreciate more buildings in the scenario editor that have no ownership. So, I can place in the building in the RMS without having people take it over when they walk by. Make versions of those buildings in the Real World Maps as well. And, make more birds and flying objects (An N-1 Starfighter, X-wing) that are gaia objects that just fly around. 8. Perhaps another Unique Unit for Each Civ. I could see a Super Battle Droid for the Trade Federation - I'm sure you could think of others. 9. Beaf up the Naboo. They rely too much on Nova, and their heavy weapons just aren't good enough to contend with anything else. They can't even fall back on Mechs like the Rebels can. Thanks, Mr. Gaber. Please consider these points, and I'd like to have input on them Dan
Guest PhantomMenace
They already have a tileset similar to coruscant Emperor Dan; justs go into the scenario editor and choose the metal 1, 2, and 3 tiles. They look good. Albiet they dont have huge coruscant buildings and hover vehicles to pick from as flying around background gia. how bout a heavy weapon that lays mines. You know it could be a zamboni looking vehicle that was slow, heavily armored and could not attack, but would drop land mines that would be hidden from the enemy just like the spider mines in Starcraft. You could que up the mines inside the vehcile the same way you qued'ed up scarabs inside the protoss reaver in Starcraft! What do ya think? Also, i would really like to know if the new cruiser aircraft was a result of my idea about an anti-air aircraft/ interceptor aircraft.
