S1DC
oh, dear god! this is a sad attempt at a discussion. Defender. Waaay to many differences between the craft to compare them right... the A-wing was not designed with the firepower or strength of the Defender. If someone gave me a choice of which one to fly my ass around in an interstellar battle, it would be the friggen defender: not an A-Wing.

Rogue15
TIE Defender > A-Wing TIE Defender is alot faster than an A-Wing, and can run circles around it. And I like Imperial starfighters, so TIE/D it is.
Dark Sad Shadow
duh!!! Defender rules!!!!!!!
Rogue Nine
Imperial weenees. The Defender is too much of a Godmoding-type of starfighter. Too perfect to be real and used in practice. I'm sticking with the classic and battle-proven A-wing.
Redwing
Tough descision...they both rule. But I'm going with A-Wing, because everyone else is going Defender wacko. Besides, the XWA Defender is simply there for newbies to feel l337. The REAL Defender can still own the X-Wing, being just more maneuverable and slightly faster, and packing more firepower and a toughie hull (especially for a TIE!) but the A-Wing is faster...much faster. And even in XWA, I don't believe it's faster than the A-Wing. Rogue15 is somewhere off in dreamworld. Here's how I see it: Newbie pilot TIE Defender > Newbie pilot A-Wing Good pilot TIE Defender = Good pilot A-Wing. And I flatter myself that I am not a newbie pilot. Redwing
Ummm hello...it's because I just said the game version is more overpowered than the real thing :D :p Looks like someone can't handle reading a thread before posting
Rogue15
but the game (which is where the TIE Defender originated) existed BEFORE the book. So the game is more correct than the book in that respect.
Redwing
Books are higher canon than the games, which must take gameplay, etc into account. So the books are right. Enough said.
