eben15 Posted July 15, 2002 Posted July 15, 2002 In one of the star-wars guides, it explains that Maul had been attacked by assassin droids, before his fight with the jedi, so he was tired and not at his best. So the Maul we saw was only half of his skill.

Jedi_Monk Posted July 15, 2002 Posted July 15, 2002 It's tough... originally, Darth Maul's 2x lightsaber was going to be just like Exar Kun's (meaning the hilt was only going to be the length of a standard single-bladed lightsaber), but Ray Park said it would be impossible to work with and got them to lengthen it. So Exar Kun's lightsaber would be almost impossible to use, clumsy. Maul would win in a straight duel. But Exar Kun was more powerful in the Force (he was, afterall, created by KJA who has this godmode complex--he has to have the most powerful EVERYTHING in his books, LOL!), and he had that Sith Amulet that augemented the Force. Following EU, Sidious, Maul, Tyranus and Vader aren't even the same Sith as Exar Kun, Ulic-Qel Droma, Naga Sadow and Freedon Nadd. The Sith without the "Darth" surname were the originals, descendants and followers of Dark Jedi who descovered the Sith People and ruled them for millennia practicing Sith Magic. The Darths are members of the Sith Brotherhood, a Dark Side cult based on the ancient Sith but without the Sith Magic, as far as I know (haven't kept up with EU since the movies started coming out again).
