My computer is a Compaq Presario Celeron 600 mhz , integrated intel 810e chipset. i'd like to get a better framerate, my ram is 320 sdram. it runs just about everything, the ram really helped that. it has some pci slots that aren't used.

Compaqs aren't exactly the most upgradable computer around (stupid propriety parts). Also intergrated graphics can be a b.... uhh annoying to disable. No AGP slots?! You can only get crap cards. If you do have an AGP slot that I don't know about then wait for the ATI Radeon 9700 to come out so there will be a price drop on all the GeForce 4s. Since we are discussing computers, does anyone know what parts of a Dell are propriety parts?

Actually, I have a dell that's only half a year old, and a lot of it is propriety (I think I know what you mean by that) I have an AGP slot, but the case is so small I couldn't fit in a high-end GeForce; I had to use my PCI slot and use the lowest Ge4 I could get. So a tower (depending on what you get with your PC) could be. Also, be careful with a laptop from dell. I have a friend that wanted to get a car adapter, but dell changed the size and shape of the slot so that one could only order the adapter from them. Basically, I've learned my lesson about buying from Dell...
