Madjai

Recommended Posts

this is my second model from the original jedi knight, the first being Maw.

and like Maw, Jerec is a modified kyle.

the mesh is done, at least in my opinion, but i want to hear from others first before i begin uvwmapping him.

so here he is:

and these are what i used for references, just incase no one knows what he looks like:

(files are .txt so you wont have to copy/paste into address bar, just click)

any comments welcome.

Very nice. I wouldn't be afraid to make him a little more imposing(broader shoulders, stronger build). I'm guessing the writers and artists for jedi knight intended for Jerec to look like the concept art, but had to take what they got when it came to finding an actor. Otherwise it looks fine, and the face is pretty much dead on.

Wow awesome work!

Can't wait to see this one, Jerec was a much better enemy than Desann ever was. Plus, it will be great to see him in the great detail both you and the JK2 engine can provide.

I'm one of the people working on the JK Remake, and I'm sure we'd all love it if we were able to use your models in our remake. You will be given full credit and all.

Madjai,

Your model is looking very nice. I have made a Jerec skin and I have no idea if it will help or if you even care but it may help to look at my skin to see how I interpreted him to be. Here's the link:

Also, I'd be glad to skin this baby for you once you're done with the model.

Hope I've helped somewhat.

Emon, if you can do the shaders on the updated Maw skin, you are MORE than welcome to, and I'd gladly give you credit. Modifying an existing shader is one thing(one thing I can do), but making an entirely new one and getting it to work in a convincing way is completely another.

Madjai contacted me, so it looks like I'll be skinning Jerec (the many faces of Corran Horn will have to be put on hold). This should be much easier than Maw, whose lumpy head and enormous exposed muscles made for a texturing nightmare.

Keep the reference pics coming!

You open up ShaderEd, add a texture, select a blend mode (usually GL_ONE/GL_ONE for solid textures), check any kind of features you want, etc.

Consult the Q3 shader manual. I had a bookmark, but I just reformatted, use google.

ok i emailed him, thanks for the idea.

im currently working on weighting Jerec, which will be easier than Maw was because his body fits the skeleton much better, so this should take a couple of days, although i havent done legs before so maybe longer.

then the only thing left after that will be a little testing, the skin and sounds.

things move much faster after youve gotten over the first model.
