Personally I hate knowing anything about a movie before actually watching it. If I can avoid it I don't wanna know who's starring in it, the basic story (as can be read on the back of a video cover) nor do I want to watch any trailer, teaser or preview of a greatly anticipated movie. I want to experience the movie, its characters and events as I see it in the theater or on VHS/DVD.

I love being surprised by which actors are in a movie as they enter the screen, I love not knowing a single thing before it happens or at least not to have seen the events before in case they are predictable. Having seen the highlights of a movie in trailers and such before I see the movie itself deflates the experience.

Two examples, one where I knew something vital, the other where I knew next to nada.

Se7en: I accidently knew about the lazy drugster still being alive after having been strapped to the bed for a year. I couldn't avoid overhearing a conversation about it on a busride, and knowing that took all surprise out of that scene and aspect of this great movie. Sure, it was in itself only a shock effect, but more importantly the concept of a man being strapped to a bed for an entire year being fed drugs to keep him alive really gives you an insight as to the determination and ruthlessness of John Doe. So instead of having that revelation to contemplate during the remainder of the movie to add to the experience, that part was ruined by knowing beforehand.

Matrix: Apart from knowing Reeves and Fishburne featured in it I knew absolutely nothing about the theme of this movie and that made this particular movie experience a blast of proportions. From the very beginning with Trinity's effortless martial arts dealing of the coppers, hers and the agents vast leaps and her vanishing in the phone booth I was totally hooked 'what the heck is going on here!!?' *drool*. Every turn and revelation of the movie was a gateway opening to a spectacular world with me drawing it all in with extatic glee. Not knowing beforehand was the main reason that movie was a grand experience to me.

So, the basic curiousity of this post is simple; am I the only one not wanting to know every little detail of a movie I can get my eyes and ears on before actually watching the movie? Well, in all honesty one, only one, of my friends feel as I do, so that makes 2 I know who prefers to be surprised all the way through a movie.

All depends on the film, for Ep I & II and tried my best to avoid all trailers, previews, tv spots, everything. I think trailers sometimes gives too much away, which is fine for a film that you're not that bothered about.

LOL that reminds me of the time Homer Simpson goes to the cinema to see Empire Strikes Back and announces loudly in front of the queue to get in that He would never have guessed Darth Vader was Lukes Father, hehe that made me laugh.

But I like Trailers, I like to follow the films of certain actors and if I find out that they have a new movie coming out I will wait with baited breath. eg. Al Pacino, Jonny Depp and Gene Hackman to name a few.

However if too much plot is revealed it really annoys me.
