The Welshwoman Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 Why does Manny call Glottis and some other friends of his "Mano" at times? In Spanish, it just means 'hand' (weird nickname to give a friend if you ask me!)
Darth Eggplant Posted September 26, 2002 Posted September 26, 2002 hmmm... I have never heard Manny call anyone Mano. there is Mano a mano which means man to man but Glottis is not a man and Manny is a male skeleton. I mean Glottis is his right hand sort of guy, or maybe it means something else or maybe you thought Manny said it, another more experienced GF gamer will have to answer your question
GendoTheGreat Posted September 29, 2002 Posted September 29, 2002 I think it just means "buddy' or "pal" Maybe "friend".
The Welshwoman Posted September 29, 2002 Author Posted September 29, 2002 Mano meaning friend? Then why would he say "Hijole mano"? What would that mean? "Hijole to my friend"? WHat the heck does Hijole mean? heh heh heh!
Metallus Posted September 29, 2002 Posted September 29, 2002 I have a theory. After looking it up on several online dictionaries and getting nowhere, I think the "mano" you're referring to could be an abbreviated form of hermano, meaning brother, rather than having something to do with "hand". Just a guess, but it makes sense.
The Welshwoman Posted October 1, 2002 Author Posted October 1, 2002 ...er, you wouldn't be serious about that, would you?
Sanspoof Posted October 1, 2002 Posted October 1, 2002 You need any Land of the Dead Internet strips on your site? Coz I can make em and send em to you
Sanspoof Posted October 1, 2002 Posted October 1, 2002 D'oh! Sorry! That comment was supposed to be on the GF horoscope thread
Darth Eggplant Posted October 2, 2002 Posted October 2, 2002 any and all submissions welcomed Sanspoof. and yes Tall Guy and Metallus are right. Manny says: Hijole Mano! he is saying "Sh!t! Man(brother)*dude* check out that... kind of like 'we don't need no sticking badges man!'
Tall Guy Posted October 2, 2002 Posted October 2, 2002 Originally posted by The Welshwoman ...er, you wouldn't be serious about that, would you? seriously, thats what it means.
SamNMax Posted October 18, 2002 Posted October 18, 2002 Originally posted by GendoTheGreat I think it just means "buddy' or "pal" Maybe "friend". I think it means My friend, he's Spanish, you know.
Leovinus Posted October 18, 2002 Posted October 18, 2002 I think Hijole mean something like "ahw man" for exampel "ahw man, Im gonna miss the poisening"
Lateralis Posted October 19, 2002 Posted October 19, 2002 great...now I can curse in another language.
The Welshwoman Posted October 24, 2002 Author Posted October 24, 2002 The great Welshwoman is back!!! Did anyone miss me?? ...I guess not Hm..."My friend"? Nope, I doubt it. 'Cause then, what does Hijole Mano mean? "My ****ty friend?" NYahahhaaha...
LiMP RABBiT Posted October 24, 2002 Posted October 24, 2002 Just browsing through this thread, does anyone have any idea. I meen, how many completely different translations can there be. How can one word meen hand, brother, and man in one. It might make conversations a bit difficult. For example, Hey mano! What, Im not your brother! No I meen MANO! I aint your hand either, psyco.
MeddlingMonk Posted October 25, 2002 Posted October 25, 2002 You can fire a gun, you can fire an employee, you can fire a memo...and yet we have no problem keeping the different meanings straight.
GendoTheGreat Posted October 25, 2002 Posted October 25, 2002 Yes, it's simple as long as you know what a gun, an employee, and a memo are. If you couldn't identify the noun you'd be up in the air just like we are here.
