Natty
...I don't know for sure yet though, basically my bf said he's going to America next July and as my birthday present he wants me to go along all I have to worry about is my spending money. I'd love to go, but I'm still kinda whats the word I'm looking for? Thingie about this whole America/Iraq/War crap I don't particually wanna go if theres a war going on- so can someone please kindly tell Mr Bush that I'm considering coming to America next year and I'm only considering it if there's no war? Its not like I particually wanna be blown up or fried or cooked or nuked or gased while on holidays
HelenW
Lucky you Natty!! I wish someone would take me to America, I've been wanting to go back since I went to Florida a couple of years ago. What part of America are you going to? I wouldn't worry too much about the whole war thing, I'm sure that security is a lot better since september 11th, and even if war breaks out America is unlikely to turn into a war zone like you see in some countries. The wars are usually fought in another country. Remember the Gulf War last time? We were only aware of what was going on through the media. Depending on what part of America you plan on going to I think you are at more risk of getting stuck in the middle of a hurricane or an earthquake or something, but people don't stop going, cos the risk is small. Natty, where you live is much more dangerous!!! The thing that puts me off Australia is that it is the most dangerous country in the world, cos it has the most deadly creatures!! And Redbacks are small aren't they? How on earth do you see them coming? At least the big fat hairy ones you can see a mile off and get out the way!!! I think you'd be safer in America than Australia
Natty
Australia has something like 8 or 9 of the top 10 worlds most deadly snakes As for spiders? Well I don't think I've ever seen a redback other than whats on TV, although when we finally decide to clean out our garage I'm sure there's probably lots of them in there coz they love dark dirty places, which if you ever see my garage then you'll wonder why There's also the black widow (or funnell web as it's sometimes called coz of the funnel like web it- origional hey?) which is found in Sydney, so I'm safe. The only spiders we have gotten around my house is the Huntsman- which is this big furry kind of thing- which they aren't poisoinous they kinda freak you out when you see them sitting on your wall They pretty much mind their own business though. We get the occasional trapdoor spider and black house spider but like the Huntsman they pretty much mind their own business- can't remember if their poisionous or not. The spider that really irritates me is the white tail spider, small nasty poisionous buggers, which incidentally have a white spot on their bum and are poisionous, but I don't know if their deadly or not. Have almost been bitten by a white tail on a few occasions which kinda freaks me out. Like the Crocodile Hunter says (least I think it was him)- most often than not animals won't harm you as long as you stay clear of them, you might be scared of them, but chances are they're scared of you too

Actually, the US is a lot less urban than the UK; there are, according to my VERY rough calculations, 617 people per square mile in the United Kingdom compared to 69 people per square mile in the USA, and that's me being kind to the USA. Japan is even more urban than UK; 856 people per square mile. Australia is a good one though, with just 6 people per square mile. THere are more sheep than people in Australia; 60 sheep per square mile, which just goes to show that the Australians are worse than the Welsh. Oh, not another New York hater. I don't think they'll be mugging in this war. You can say they're a little jumpy, you might even say, they're scared out of wit's end and thinking they're going to die any second. That's a little hard for them, you know? HelenW
Actually, with regards to the mugging/crime thing, they reckon that New York is actually a safer place to be than London. Crime rates over there are going down as a result of a crackdown on crime, and over here crime is increasing........... lots more muggings, robberies, murders, and gang killings and stuff is occuring here now, whereas before it was a phenonemon associated with America. Plus I remember reading somewhere that alcohol is becoming anti-social in America, if thats the case, there is lots less fighting I'm sure........... I know in England, I hate going town clubbing on a friday or saturday night, cos there are loads of drunks picking fights and throwing bottles at each other.......... makes a great night out when a bottle goes whizzing past your head or you get stuck in the middle of a punch up that has absolutely nothing to do with you!! Of course, you gotta account for all the deserts and country in the US, there's alot more room for people over there

If your going to China go to the western part. Next to Monglia. I did the whole country south to north and Sichuan was definatly the best! Grass and snow feilds as far as you could see. Yak burgers/freindly people/fantastic crafts/monastries. Just have a cushion for your arse the roads hurt! And there'll be 15 hours of it at times. What part of Mexico DSS? I'm going to Yucatan and Guatmala in a few years time. To see the Myan ruins.

Joshi
firstly, natty, most of orlando, florida is a tourrist place and so if your looking for theme parks, that would eb the best place to go (disney world (all four parks), bucsh gardens, universal studios) secondly, i'm would hopefully be going travelling in about 2 year time so i don't have to think about it too much now, but i'm seriously considering china basically because i like that kind of place. i've been to india and africa, i'd now like to go to china, especially where Brighteyes mentioned, it sounds good. also, australia still sounds like a nice place to visit despite all the 'sand'. and thirdly, yes, most mountains do look the same, but it's still a nice veiw (i like landscape painting as a hobby) adn also i like the fresh open spaces and country side alonmg with teh cultural backrounds and mythology connected with places like China (greece is another place i'd like to go to, but maybe when i'm older)
