Wudan said way back when that he had some code that would alter func_rotate so that it wouldn't have to make a complete revolution - this opens up the possibility for swinging doors, my moving staircases, etc. The only drawback is that it would have to be run as a mod. Perhaps he's figured out some other way to do it since then, but as I don't want people to have to mod their game just to play my map, I won't be implementing it.

Work continues... the Slytherin Common room is 85% mapped. Just got to do the dormitories themselves, put in the small details and finalize the lighting/textures.

3 shots:

This is the main room, where Harry and Ron used the polyjuice potion to change into Crabbe and Goyle in an attempt to get information out of Draco Malfoy. It was seen in the movie, but the couches have not yet been added.

Same room, different angle.

The entrance to the main room, coming from the Dungeons.

Last night my comp went haywire due to a virus. I managed to save all the more recent files (most recent backup was halfway thru the Dungeon section) pertaining to Hogwarts. I almost lost all that work on the Slytherin rooms. *whew*

Needless to say, I will be investing in a more up-to-date virus/firewall program. :D

Yay for saving good work! It looks very impressive...

Two comments: you might want to make it a little more clear where the green light comes from, and perhaps make the rug a little thinner. It looks good overall, though, I especially liek the effect of logs in the fireplace!

Wedge - The rug was just thrown in at the last second. I'll fix it... believe me when I say it's not finalized. :)

As for the green light, i'm just testing out different lighting schemes, as I'm still not sure what i'm going with.

Frendon - Thanks. :)

Aru, even after updating my computer and retesting the ceiling, I'm convinced map surfaces can't do any type of alpha blending. So what needs to happen is a model will need to be created and put below the ceiling to act as the second surface. I don't know how to implement models for use in maps, but anyone that does should be able to whip it out in a matter of seconds because it's just a single plane (2 triangles making a square).

Not just any mod at this point, I'm coding AOTCTC/ProMod. I've just finished up rough implementation of Saga (and YES you can see objective status now!)

Rotating doors and other things mappers would appreciate are being put in because I remember when I was a mapper (long ago, and mostly forgotten by any who still live), and rotating doors are a huge beef. Ladders are another (and they are in there also :p)

I'm hoping to have a release of ProMod (probably not AOTCTC ProMod yet, but just some fixes, changes, and Saga) 4.whatever finished by June, which is a good, far away estimate that should be kind enough to give me time to polish it all up.

The Slytherin Common room is now in the detailing phase, which means creating some nice pieces of furniture to go in it. I haven't decided which section of the castle i'll be moving to next, but I'll most likely be working from the ground up from now on.

Anyway, here's that couch Shad mentioned. Nothing says evil like black leather, eh?
