Fugitive Priest

Eldritch

Recommended Posts

Just heard on the news this morning there's a Catholic priest who's been running from the authorities since May. They've lost his trail, but they're running his face all over the news here in the US trying to get people to call an 1-800 number if they have any information. He stands accused of 42 counts of child molestation, he was NOT defrocked by the Church (despite countless protests) and when he heard the police were coming to arrest him he took off.

Am I the only one that's REALLY pissed off at how the Catholic Church is handling this?

I'm not even a Catholic and I'm pissed...

I just can't believe the Church isn't defrocking more priests when they're accused of stuff like this. They just shuffle the offenders to a different parish (where it's actually worse, because they just do it again with different kids).

The Church really needs to take a good, long look at the damage they're doing by allowing these child molestors to remain in the priesthood.

I agree with you Phantom, why can't they keep their business at home.

I think it is a lot more than just the priests that are doing things like unfortunately.......

With all of the recent events with the sexual misconduct of priests, I think they are being looked at and scrutenized a little more closely than before. So that's why there are more ppl after them, at least IMO.

its disturbing. very disturbing.

i cant understand what motivation there is there. what link between abstinance and molesting children. cant he be a normal guy and just use the internet?

this topic kind of hits close to home (NO, NOT what you're thinking)

a friend of mines uncle was a priest. until he was imprisoned for 3 counts of child molesting. the guy always seemed nice, he seemed well... normal. he never gave any inclination that something wasnt right in his head but apparently there was. its a sad thing that priests do this. and the churches need to do something about it.

Where was this guy from? Is this an east coast thing???

He was the priest for some church in Minnesota, I think (I could be mistaken), so it's not an east coast thing.

They can't keep their business at home because a) The live at (or next to) the church and b) Catholic priests can't get married.

And I don't think that anyone is "after" the priests just because it's in the media. I think a lot of people are just speaking up after seeing so many cases and how wrong it is. People of faith put their trust in these priests, and they are betrayed and taken advantage of by them. It's really, really sick.

Not a Catholic, but pissed

These folks need to get their a s s in gear, they've got endless amounts of these charges against their priests, and just because they're religious folk doesn't mean they won't do bad things. Some people over look this.

Leemu, I dunno about whether it's an east coast thing, but I've heard a lot about it over here.

The only reason I ask if it is an east coast thing is because I've heard nothing about it here on the west coast.......

And Jedi_Anakin.....I think you and I are saying the same thing, we just have different ways of saying it. :D

And when I used the term "after them," obviously it was just a general statement, I didn't want to have to write a story on it so I used a quick and easy term. :p

child abusers should be locked up for the rest of their life, these sort of acts are mental disorders and they will be just as dangerous if not more so when they are released.

solution? dont let them out.

cut their balls off i say - not surgically, use the SPOON to do it and no anaesthetic either.
