adillon
my first star wars memory was going to see ROTJ in the theaters as well. i don't remember how old i was ... but if somebody knows what year it came out i could do the math. anyway, my grandmother took me, my older brother, and my cousin to go see it, although i doubt she 'cared' for it too much. afterwards we went to burger king to get the ROTJ collectable glasses BK was offering at the time ... COLLECT ALL FOUR! ... and believe it or not i still have them. yeah, i know, i AM a packrat!

Old Rep Knight
My first memory of SW:ANH was while I was in the womb. Don't believe me? My mom tells me she went to see SW while she was pregnant. But honestly, I really don't remember that. So TESB came out 3 years later. But apparently I didn't see that in the theater or on video. My first memory of SW, like some of you, is seeing ROTJ in the theater (I was 6). I was outside playing in the yard and my mom came out and said hey, want to go see a movie? So we did and she didn't tell me what we were seeing. The second the music started and that big yellow "Star Wars" logo hit the screen I was hooked. Though the battle with Jabba on Tatoonie helped, and the speeder bikers, and the Luke/Vader duel. It just rocked. I eventually saw ANH and TESB on TV or video after that. The rest is history. As a side note, I now have a son of just over a year and he will be around 4 when EpIII comes out. I'm hoping to take him to that so he can see it on the big screen at least once since there likely will be no more after this one. Not that I wouldn't mind Eps VII thru IX but that's another topic. starwarsman77
When I was 9, I went to a movie, (dont remember what) and saw the previews for SW, which was being re released. It looked like a piece of **** to me. But when I saw it in theaters, I swore my life to it. Today I'm the proud owner of my user name. Thats my memory. Burrie
Lessee... The first time I watched Star Wars must've been when I was zapping through several channels when I must've been about 9-12 year old. It was the Death Star Trench Run, and although I didn't quite sure what was going on, I pretty much enjoyed the movie. I felt pretty sorry about the fat guy gettin' it If someone would've told me back then that I'd be a huge fan of the series, I would've laughed at them
JaseP
I was 9 when Star Wars originally came out. I remember the hype and the lines and I read and re-read the Time magazine article about it. When I finally went to see it,... I was floored. There had been nothing like it ever to that point in movies. The first scene after the fading storyline when the Star Destroyer rolls across the screen chasing the Correllian transport,... MAN!!! I got the original send-away pack of 4 action figures (I think it was Luke, Leia, R2-D2 and Vader). I collected all the original 12 action figures like they were the holy grail... Still have them at my parents house somewhere... Episode 4 wasn't re-titled until sometime around the release of Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi. When Star Wars originally came out, it wasn't a sure thing that it would go over with audiences. The movie had been over budget and took long in post-production, and there were no assurances that it would be a sucess. Boy was it ever!!! I remember a People magazine article about the actors, and how Mark Hammil had a terrible car accident after the movie (his scars which were the inspiration for the snow monster scene in ESB)
