.Templar.
Everyone who reads this please post your opinion, I just want to know what everyone thinks. I personally know ping makes all the difference in the world.

Luc Solar
A wise man once said: "Skill knows no ping!" I think the wise man was on drugs. I don't play on servers where I get a 150+ping. It's just not worth it. Everyone is just warping around... it's like playing against guys who keep tapping mind trick every other second. Another thing: I've given up on becoming a competent gunner. The reason is not my ping but my low-end comp . If your game isn't running smoothly (I wouldn't mind if someone posted some tweaks for this..), you'll have a really hard time hitting anything. Oh well..it's always nice to have some excuse why I'm not currently pwning everyone.
ksk h2o
It wont keep you from playing for fun, butit will keep you from playing competitively.

zerowingzero
Yes and no, on ArtifeX's server i consistanly get 100+ ping, that really doesnt seem to effect me as i'm still able to beat people with lower ping. The only thing that annoys me is when someone joins, for about 4 seconds i lock up, no connection inturupted, just frozen for a few seconds, after which time i can see the scorebaord after just being killed... chat killing and saber off killing i don't mind, it's your decression when to chat or turn off your saber, but lag killing is really annoying, you are defenceless in everyway and can't do anything about it. I can understand doing it by accident, but it's pretty much the equivelent of wining at street fighter by pulling out your opponents controler for awhile. Marker0077
Ping makes a huge difference, if you're lagged out allot of times you may not get a hit where if your ping was lower you would have. Now, it doesn't mean you can't play with a huge ping, but it is a handicap non-the-less.
Bilbo Skywalker
bad lag can ruin a game; it's almost impossible to guess your shots when your ping is in the 200 area. still bad ping doesnt necessarily mean bad lag... if i have 200 ping on jk2 i find it unplayable, warping about etc. but if i play medal of honor with 200 ping, its fine. oh well.. DeTRiTiC-iQ
I can cope in CTF with a ping up to about 400, fighting saberists is more annoying though since they only need to swing near you to kill.
Pedantic
Does ping matter? Hell, yes.
ksk h2o
I rememer when people used to call you a LPB back in quake and QII. Now everyone seems to be a LowPingBastard and the odd one out is the HighPingLooser
Moradivh
As a promod FFA saberist, I can cope with less than 250 ping. Any higher and I'll find another server. Fortunately even European servers halfway around the world are often below 250 on my cable modem, so lag is usually a non-issue... unless it's a server hiccup -- those can be irritating. BlackDove
Well in all of the versions, from 1.02 to 1.04 everything above 200 is unplayable for me, because even though it LOOKS like I hit, I never actually did hit, and the guy with lesser ping mauls me. Psionic Jedi
Yes, ping does make a difference. Any of your "skill" is for naught when your enemies are zooming past and away from you at warp speed. However, there is one situation where your ping is not read correctly, which is when you're speccing someone from third person. If you look at your ping, it matches their's, so it's not really correct...
ASk
Up to 350-400, no. Yes, the game feels lagged, but it's minor (of course that was in the days of 1.02 when I still played, so things may have changed). On ProMod however, pings DO MATTER. Since aiming is closely connected to ping, a difference in pings is a big advantage. Tested by me and several others.

.Templar.
Bump - Cmon guys, I want more opinions, 9/10 of the players i meet are ignorant to the impact of ping in a fight, simply because they have never played jk2 with 56k, dont worry guys, no one will flame you if you feel different, but i guarantee someone will proove you wrong
ksk h2o
I've tried to play on a 56k connection... basically I was an easy target or punching bag fo rthe jedi... actually... I'm sure I was harder to hit with guns due to the massive amounts of ghosting and teleporting I was doing due to lag. I was my own worst enemy though since I would run off legdes in the NS_Streets level or do the bot routine and perform a double backflip, corckscrew angel leap off the ledges right after spawning. Got lots of "style" pionts for the artistic jumps. When playing on Art's server I constantly have a minimum of 160 ping. I can still play but gunning is not a viable option since the ms between the time I fire and the shot goes off is quite noticeable. There are other instances where I'm killed while quite safely away from the swinging saber or when my hit will go right through the other guy without causing any damage... but the game is quite playable at 160-180 ping. On servers where I have 50-60 ping though... wow... no complaints there
.Templar.
I cant even play on servers with Promod - I dont stand a chance in saber or gun combat, I realize you are supposed to aim at your enemy to better block him, but when I aim at them with my lag, and they arent running straight at me, ALL of their attacks hit, and typically its just someone whos spamming in blue so Im dead in 2 hits. I still dont see any post from someone who disagrees... cmon guys, give me some posts.
