Combat question!

Well, since i had no luck with the unresponsive ppl at the lucasarts forums I'll try my luck here. Does anyone know if (for the PC) you'll be able to select say one or two attacks and put them on keys for instant acces (somewhat similar to jk2). I think pausing and selecting your attack EVERY SINGLE TIME you have to dispach an enemy is gonna be boring and tedious. I read something about this in a Xbox review but i was wondering if they'd have it for PC. Thnx to anyone who posts (i've read every single review, preview and interview i can lay my hands on and im DESPERATE!!!!!!)

Welcome to StarWarsKnights.com! I'm glad you stopped by. :)

Ah, I think you mean "hot keys." Well, the pc version is still a ways off yet, but I think you could safely assume there will be hot keys. I don't believe you are going to have to pause and choose your attack......that is an option, but you don't have to do it like that if you don't want to.

I saw the combat in motion.....the game slows down and there is a panel of selected attacks you can choose from. If you already know your attack buttons, well there is no need to look at the list, just attack! :)

I hope this helps you....

I saw a video preview at EB about two weeks ago. There was no interviews, just action. :)

Simply amazing LeXX. :D

Speaking of queues. :clears throat: :segue:

You can also queue in your attacks. So that when you finish one attack it will immediately move into another.

Before anyone asks where I got that from ;)

Chat city, baby!!!

Not an axe please. NOOOO!

The best part about the video was the fact that it lasted for almost 4 minutes. It wasn't just a short commercial. Though, I still have yet to see it here in the states.....

So you can queue in your attacks? Whoa this means we will actually be able to WATCH THE WHOLE TIME AND DO NOTHING?!?!? Awesome! I hate interaction.. it's why I hate video games :D

KOTOR will be crippled by it's poor gameplay, but the synergy of its other elements is what's going to make it a good game. Not great mind you, but good.

Pardon Notion, but have you ever taken the time to play a RPG? I've played several RPGs which use a combat system that pretty much resembles this system and are just bloody great. I recommend you try and download a demo for one of these RPG games to see wether KotR is going to be a game for you...

I beg to differ with you.....to go along with what Burrie said, it's an rpg and the focus on the game is not the gameplay/combat itself. It is the story/adventure to the game that is important. I can't wait to play the game and see the combat.....it'll be almost like watching a movie. :)

Don't tell me this isn't a game for me, I appreciate all games for what they do right (I've played countless). I know the focus isn't on combat, that's why I said it's the other parts that will make up for it.

As for RPGs, I've played ones that range from Fallout 1 & 2, to Morrowind, all the way to debatable RPGs such as Deus Ex. The former were great, they just lacked combat. It wasn't the focus of course, but It would have been so much more immersive and fun if they gave as much attention to combat as they do to Roleplaying.

Even if the focus is Adventure elements, wouldn't it be better if the combat was superb? My answer is yes but combat like this is a die-hard cliche for RPG fans. Turn-based combat won't be extinct for quite some time, but we can still dream of the synergy that would have been accomplished if it was given some creativity and/or a little time. I just like roleplaying ALL aspects of a game to the fullest.
