hyperspace12
Do you actually start the game weilding your lightsaber or is it like JK2 where there are a few levels you have to use normal weapons.
Jedi Apprentice
--You start out as either a Soldier, Scout or Socundrel without a lightsaber then eventually become a Jedi and get your saber.
Taos
It is like JK2 in that way, but I believe that there will be much more to do in this game before you can earn that lightsaber.

And it won't involve moving stuff about with Force powers you are given; you choose them as you gain availability slots in your Force powers list (if it is at all like a SPELL BOOK from BG and BGII...) HunterFett1
Ok I just read a topic on Earning the Lightsaber. So, are you saying that I don't get to start the game with a saber??? Do you get to start with force powers???
Darth Damage
This game is about finding out that u are force sensitive and you develope these thing in the game.... so no, you dont get force powers at the start of the game.
OttoSenjut
From what ive learned i do not think that a jedi earns his lightsaber. But constructs one of his own during his training. Is this also true for KOTOR? I am also interested in how one trains to actualy become a jedi in KOTOR. Do you start out force sensitive then get someone to take you in as their padawan? Or is it a magical system that one day when you reach a certain level POOF. jedi. ...?
Swat
a jedi padawan uses a ready-made lightsaber, then constructs 1 after becoming a jedi knight i tink that jolee will take u in n guide u 2 develop ur force powers
OttoSenjut
Thanks man. i knew it was something like that. thas cool that someone teaches you. i was afraid that becomeing a jedi would be lame. but i probably dont need to think that cuz KOTOR is gunna kick ass. Burrie
I sincerely hope that Jolee Bindo and the academy on Dantooine will help you in becoming a Jedi. Still, I also really hope that they won't take a "Jedi-in-a-day" route, and that there will actually be a time skip of about a month or three, and you'll have some very limited Force Powers by then... leXX
Talking of lightsabers, the Jedi obviously use double bladed sabers in kotor - what I want to know is how come the Jedi stop using them?!
OttoSenjut
The Jedi probably stopped using them because the council thought that double bladed sabers were too reckless and would maybe lead them to the darkside. The same more than likely happened to duel wielding sabers. And currently Jedi don't have too many enemies who can actually match up to them in melee combat so they may use regular sabers to deflect blaster bolts easier. Thats what i think. Hannibal
Originally posted by leXX Talking of lightsabers, the Jedi obviously use double bladed sabers in kotor - what I want to know is how come the Jedi stop using them?! It seems to me that the double bladed saber is made to face two saber wielding enemies. So when the JEdi thought the Sith were destroyed they probably felt they didn't need them anymore(and you know how those Jedi are).

Taos
I agree with Otto and Hannibal. The both have good reasoning. Welcome to StarWarsKnights.com btw Otto. Have a good time here, be sure to check out the rules posted in the Atho Cantina and any questions, just ask [or send a pm].
Reb Starblazer
Jedi are supposed to use the Force only for defense, and this includes Lightsabres as well, which is why they switched from Lightsabre to Lightsabre combat style(Such as Dooku uses), to Lightsabre to blaster styles(like Obi-Wan) after the great war. As Otto and Hannibal have pointed out, the Jedi believe the Sith are extinct so they no longer focus on Lightsabre fighting prowess, but more on defense. Which is why Dooku just mangled Obi-Wan and Anakin, they weren't prepared for his style of Lightsabre combat. A double bladed Lightsabre is a weapon of pure offense, seeing anyone with one means that they want to start something. You don't carry one of them and not mean business. Just like two Lightsabres, it's a sign of aggression, something the Jedi don't want to be associated with. The Jedi of the prequels have become complacent and done away with things like that. But during the time KOTOR is set, the great Sith war has just ended, and the Jedi are still prepared for a threat, just in case. And yes, I'm aware that there is a Jedi in the Geonosis arena who wields two Lightsabres. But hell, Mace has a friggen purple blade, so I guess there's exceptions to everything:D EDIT: Yes leXX, I know that they just picked up the lightsabres, they don't normally use them. Like Anakin used two fighting Dooku, he "picked" one up as well. It's just that the Jedi don't normally use two lightsabres. I just edited this as I didn't feel this response was worth another post. The Jedi in the Geonosis Arena that had two sabers didn't start off with two sabers, they just picked up the sabers of their dead comrads.
dark jedi 8
Yeah, i agree, i seen at least two different jedi with two lightsabers.
Jedi Apprentice
One thing I'm hoping for is that to get your basic force powers you don't just run into Force blocks (like JO) and then you have them. I thought that was pretty fruity. Do yall have any suggestions of how we could get our basic force powers without the whole block thing? Maybe after you finish some training you just end up with the basic ones.
