ZBomber
Well, I have an old computer. Its in my room, (we have a fats one downstairs) Anyway, my dad said we could make our own computer form my old one. I'm not sure. That one is old and holds alot of good memories. But on the otherside, its slow, and it could help me with a job in Computers (which I want for a career). So what do you guys thin kI should do? Keep it, or make a new one? Katarn07
Make a new one. Depends what is on the PC though. Are all the games/ files/ etc on there that made it nice? Then it might be worth keeping. I am always upping my tachnology. I hate all my PCs I get. One second longer on this peice of crap, and I seriously am afraid it'll lay in peices in my driveway... j/k, I like being on it, even if I'm not using it. nova_wolf
Assess what it has to offer, then keep anything of use - hard disk, RAM sets and any cards. Then build a new one, using the RAM if its a high enough amount, and then add more if needed. Use a new hard disk with old one for plenty of space (little old one can be you 'My Documents' HD. Then fit the cards you kept and build around them. Just make sure to keep all software and drivers!....

Matt-Liell
Why not copy all the files you would like to keep onto a CD or something, make a fast computer and transfer the files back to it? Thats what I did when I reformatted my computer.

It took 2-3 minutes for it to start up... *shudders* So, make a new one...get the best stuff...like me! You wont regret it!

.:Silver:.
I forget what it's called, but a friend of mine bought this cable from Fry's. (You can probably find it in just about any good electronics store, ie. Best Buy or Comp USA. You hook the cable up your computer and transfer all of your data to your new computer. It's supposed to be fast and pretty easy to use. I'm buying a Falcon Northwest in a week so I hope it works.

Well I would say it depends on the computer and it's specs. Even if it is old, you could still reuse a lot of it's parts.

.:Silver:.
I've built a PC before when I didn't have the money. Besides those Falcon boys are good at making an overclocked PC. I'd rather spend a little extra and let them do all the work.

LoL I always build my own computer because I want to know every process I went through to get the final product. That way, when I encounter problems, I can fix them immediately. And it's a matter of pride, also.

teutonicknight
He could be talking about a two way USB cable (It's a USB device that goes bothways and acts as a connect between two computers)
GUNNER
I doubt his "old" PC has a USB port on it. Build a new rig and then O/C the crap out of it. I got a 1.8 P4 that runs at 2.7 all day long. It's easy to do and will only take a few hours or more if you want to make it look nice and tidy inside.
