Sithxace
i loved it hwo bacvk years ago the cinamatics or movies were like ral people and real movies and great rendered ones. Today all the games have crappy game engine cinematics which screw the story telling and gives a bad atmostphere for the game. I loved jediknight movies, and rebel assault too. Those were great. Are they getting lazzy? are they getting cheap? or do they think the game engine is good enough?
ckcsaber
Meh, they are so so. My favorite game cinematics are from Thief 2. They had their own sort of art style. They were really great.

acdcfanbill
Dues Ex 2 is looking like a rival for Doom III in visual value from what i have been seeing, still, in my mind, you cant beat real actors.
leXX
You wanna see great cinematics, get Panzer Dragoon Orta. The opening sequence will blow your mind. It blends so effortlessly into the start of the game that you just about have time to pick your jaw off the ground before you realise that you are now in control. The rest of the game is stimply stunning. It has the most amazing graphics I've seen on a game ever, and the gameplay to match.
BCanr2d2
Most of it is keeping the games relatively cheap to produce. It costs plenty to do FMV for a game. It is more conservative to use the graphics engine, or even pre-rendered scenes, rather than FMV..... Also, instead of the player waiting for a great scene, then back to the graphics, they try to blend it all in, so it's all feels like a seemless experience. Instead of the cutscenes standing out, the player is meant to stay in the same mood and feeling they were when playing the game. It furthers the story, rather than making it feel seperate, and eye candy.
Breton
I kind of like the Westwood ones, especially RA2 and Emperor: Battle for Dune. Anyway, I agree with you, real cinematics are much better. Cinematics you just want to watch over and over again. They really improve the game, it makes the story ten times more real.
