I heard that when creating your character at the start of KOTOR depending on how you dress, NCPs will act differently e.g. If you dress in the classic black robe of the dark jedi NCPs will avoid talking to you. Can any one give any more information on this or any other details about NCP interaction.

You read that(or heard it) from a preview that didn't have their facts straight.

Here's a quote from Chris Priestly from Bioware:

Part 1. Nope. I'm not sure where you heard this, but you will not be judged by your appearance or what you wear. In my opinion (and not "Official Star Wars" opinion but my opinion) there are so many creatures with skin colors, horns, fangs and so on or are wearing armor and carrying weapons that it seems dumb to me to judge a creature by its appearance. I can see it now:

Trooper #1: "Keep your eye open for trouble."

Trooper #2: "Right. Hey look! Someone in black!"

Trooper #1: "Quick, lets blast them!"

Trooper #2: "He ran over there, behind the cute little girl slaughtering jawas with that knife."

Trooper #1: "Awwwww.... she's a cutie. But never mind that, where'd that guy in black get to?"

Get what I mean?
