you will be owned a lot... BUT keep up with it, try to learn from the players that are owning you. have a look at the vids that you can down load as they will help to.

in the end if you keep up with it and learn from the good players instead of slagging them down.. you will be doing the ownage :)

First, congratulations on getting a fantastic game :)

As far as playing online, if you are interested in becoming proficient with lightsabers (as opposed to guns), I suggest starting out dueling against bots. First, start a game where you are the only player. Get the feel of the different saber styles, and practice all the special moves. Then start at the lowest bot difficulty level with no force powers. Once you can beat them consistently, move on to the next difficulty level. Keep doing this until you can beat the bot on Jedi Master. Once you get the hang of this, repeat the process with Force powers on this time.

Once I was able to do this I found that I was reasonably successful in online games. However, there is no substitute for playing other people. Once you can beat bots, playing people is the only way to get better.

And don't get frustrated, you'll be able to get the hang of things in no time :)

This game does kick ass but unfortunately there have been a lot of changes made to gameplay and lightsaber styles since it was first released. A few things you might want to keep in mind if you plan to start multiplayer gaming right away:

1. If you wish to play online, you better get the right patch.

Note: If you don't, you'll see nothing in your servers list.

2. Stick with the patch which configurations you prefer best.

(1.02, 1.03, or 1.04)

Note: Each patch changes the physics of multiplayer and

lightsaber combat drastically so be careful to pick

the right one.

3. Always turn Auto-downloading on or the server you're trying

to connect to might reject you.

4. Keep practicing and don't let anyone discourage you. There are

a lot of experienced players out there and a good number of

them are too cocky for their own good. Keep playing them no

matter what and you'll catch on.

5. Last, but most important, it's just a crazy-ass game! Have fun!

Get to know more players, that's what it's all about.

Well, there's my nickel on the subject. See you online! My online name is "Vitruvio" in purple lettering.

Come on, it's never too late! :) The game can be picked up pretty quickly, and it doesn't take much to become decent at it.

Also, I believe that 1.04 is the most common patch, so I recommend that one (am I incorrect on this?).
