  1. 1. newbie notice: should newly registered members recieve one?

    • yes, it could cut down spamming and maybe make them feel welcome

    • no, why go out of our way to tell them. after all, it's good to ask questions.

ok, some new people seem to be spamming and don't see the edit button so they post again, and some treat it like a message board (posting too many topics, etc.).

so i was thinking just now, maybe there could be a notice sent out to all new members after they register to help them get acquainted w/the website, the buttons on their post, how to get a custom avatar, and everything like that, points, so that they don't have as many questions and it'll reduce spamming, and in the end it'll make less work for administrators and moderators.

it could include sections titled "spamming", "get acquainted w/the buttons", and "posting replies" and such. just an idea. i'd gladly type up the notice (not like i have a life).

so, just tell me what you think, i dunno, i think it's a pretty good idea, but that's just me.

Perhaps our new members should be encouraged to read that more.

I think they should get a personal message by a bot or something telling them how everything works.. Its just an idea..:D

yeah, that's what i meant.

and i know that the f.a.q. is there, i'm just not exactly sure how many people are really looking there.

or maybe they should just be encouraged to read the f.a.q. more some way, i dunno. i was just sharing a little idea i had at the time.
