Die Another Day

No, I thought Halle Berry was okay in "Die Another Day"... acting wise, for God's sake! Is that all you ever think about? However, although the script was wonderfully written, several of her lines were delivered with less class than a fat man in Speedo's. For example:

"Ornithologist, eh? Wow... now there's a mouthful."

"I think I got the thrust of it."

"I'm sooo good..."

"World peace, unconditional love... and your friend with the expensive acne. Yeah, he's back there with some psycadellic light mask."

How she won an Oscar for 'Best Actress' is beyond me. Anyway, "Die Another Day" still rocks and beats almost every film ever released. Since the beginning of time. Ever. So there.

Oh, and toms thinks that "007 - NightFire" sucked. Ah well, everyone has their own opinions. But did you actually PLAY the game, or did you have a quick blast on the odd level here and there? Anyway, as I say, each to their own...

she won best actress for monster's ball. and those lines in bond were corny they told her how to say them. watch the hbo making of die another day.

Excuse me, InsaneSith, but I have watched the countless documentaries from the second "Die Another Day" DVD disc, and nowhere does it mention telling Ms. Berry HOW to act her lines. Maybe because you appear to be obsessed with Halle (your signature picture and avatar are a dead giveaway), you want to make her sound good, but, unfortunately, I am not a fan. She isn't even that fit.

The lines are corny? Come on, it's a Bond film! :007:

I too think Nightfire sucked a bit :) Not because it was a bad shooter (even though it probably is), but mostly because it had almost nothing to do with Bond!!

I think the new game, taking a more splinter cell approach, fits the theme much much better and I'm eager to play it! I am a bond fan after all, although the last movie kinda put me down :(

well put.

I guess if it goes down the splinter cell route it might be ok, although that game is still sitting on my growing pile of "to play" games.

Unfortunately i got distracted by X-Wing Collectors series... oh well, only 212 more missions until i can move on to the next game... :D

So you have never watched "The Living Daylights" then. Or "License to Kill". Or "Goldeneye". Or "Thunderball". Or "Live and Let Die". Or absolutely any Bond film other than "Die Another Day"?

Because "Die Another Day", to put it bluntly, sucked. It was, is and always will be the worst Bond film I have ever seen and I can't believe you think it "rocks". It is an embarressment to the entire James Bond franchise. After Goldeneye the films have just been getting worse and "Die Another Day" has taken the series to a new low. And I thought it couldn't get much worse after "Tomorrow Never Dies" and "The World Is Not Enough".

Ever since the best three films IMO, "The Living Daylights", "License to Kill"and "Goldeneye", the films just haven't been able to stand up against ANY of the previous films. Not one. Not even A View To A Kill.

Sorry for the long rant but I recently got "Die Another Day" on DVD and I was so dissapointed with it that I had to watch "License To Kill" five times before I recovered...

Ewok is right,

Die another day is really boring...

"Live and let die" is the best bond movie:)

I guess I won't die another day, since I died the day I saw the film. Oh dear, it seems Mr. Bond has fallen before the might of computer-graphics, science-fiction and (rather disappointingly) more action scenes over a storyline. "Die Another Day" sucked, but don't be so hard on the guy who made this thread. It's all a matter of personal opinion - I happen to like "A View To A Kill" more than some of the other Bond films (like "Licence To Kill", for example).

However, I do agree with Die Another Day - Halle Berry isn't really that fit. From certain angles, she looks like a boy.

I can understand why you might not like License to Kill, but A View to a Kill???? I always thought that was impossible to like... ;)

Anyway, with Die Another Day, it almost seemed as if loads of people just came up with ideas for individual action setpieces like the laser part, the parasurfing (or whatever you want to call it) the car chase, the swordfight etc. etc. then quickly strung them together and called it a Bond film. I mean, the plot is immensely hard to follow - not because it's complicated, oh no it's actually very simple - but because the film is boring and you can have your attention directed to something more interesting very quickly... such as drying paint.

Oh I hope they get their act together for the next film...

"A View To A Kill" has everything to make it classic James Bond: the wit, the charm, the action, the great plotline, the imagination, the stunts, the jokes and the class. The actors are brilliant (Sir Roger Moore, Christopher Walken and Grace Jones in particular), the dialoge is well-thought through and the fight scenes just ooze tension and class. The battle on top of the Golden Gate Bridge is the highlight of the film, and other outstanding work includes the firetruck chase, the parachute jump from the Eiffel Tower and the brilliantly scripted party scene at Zorin's chateau. The title song by Duran Duran is the best Bond song (officially), and the opening ski sequence is fun and imaginative. Although Sir Roger Moore is getting on a bit, he is still believable as James Bond 007, and the other parts in the film are cast perfectly, especially Max Zorin.

Just a few reasons why "A View To A Kill" is my favourite Bond film. :007:

Yeah, that's a secret agent :p.

and IMO no bond game will ever surpass Goldeneye, and no bond related game will ever surpass No one lives forever. In that game the dialouge is cheesy, but it's meant to be. In the last JB games the dialouge has been truly horrendous.

And yes, the CGI in DAD were horrible.

i remember reading an interview with the writers of die another day and they said (paraphrasing slightly) "We thought of all these really cool places to go and really cool stunts and then tried to write a story". SO ewok mercenary was right.

I suspect peoples fave bond films have a lot to do with the order they saw them. Personally i like:

Goldfinger: The bond that set the formula for all the rest

Spy who loved me: Very cheesy, but all in all the best of the Roger Moore era. And that opening is still a classic.

Goldeneye: Excellent film (almost a best of bond), great villain, unfortunately the music has dated terribly.

Almost all bonds have at least a number of redeaming features (often stunts) but a lot also have major negative points.

I liked living daylights, but never really liked dalton. View to a kill hads some awesome set pieces, but i thought Moore was just TOO old, same with For your eyes only.

I always inexplicably liked Octopussy, although im not sure why. THe car stunt in man with the golden gun was cool, You only live twice was also a classic (but dated).

I think im the only person who liked TWINE, i thought it got back to the original bond formula, where he actually did some spying, rather than Tomorrow never dies where he is actually just running away for 90% of the film. Michelle Yeoh nearly saved it though. :D

Actually, the main thing i DID like about DAD was that there was a decent villain for once, after the crappy ones in the last 2 films.
