topshot
I see, so I misunderstood your last post. Thanks for clearing that up. We cool on that? But still, you do not always need the force to be an expert. Our views are different. That is the difference between us. The term "expert" means differently to both of us. You believe the Force is what makes a person an expert, and I believe that fighting against guns without the Force is what makes a person an expert. But both ways, they're pretty much the same. <JOTD>Jedi Hunter
Not really the same at all, but I respect your views and will refrain from unintentionally insulting you further (If I did). Also, if I have insulted you already, please accept my apology. Out of all the people on these message boards, I respect the Crimson Masters the most. And any friend of Z is a friend of mine. Solbe M'ko
Erm.... Now Hunter said that if you don't play with force you don't know how to counter it. True. However, if you do play with force, you don't know how to play without it, more often than not. This one time, I stumbled into an FF server. This one guy started running his mouth about me being a "n00b", etc. after I lost a few to some grip spamming. I challenged him to an NF match, and whupped him royally. Then he booted me. My view of an "expert" is someone who is consistantly victorious using certain parameters. Even just turning kicking on/off can make a huge difference. The reason that I don't share your view of an expert having to be able to play in an FF/guns/all-out environment is that I find that certain skills get neglected when everything is available. I played a few FF FFAs recently and at first, I did poorly, but then I just decided to stick with what I know, sabers, and I did okay. It's te same as saying that a sniper isn't an "expert" because he doesn't use the flechette gun. He is a specialist, as most good players are. Jacks-of-all-trades need to practice a lot more rigourously, and don't perform as well in certain situations as players who practice specifically for those situations. A triathlete probably couldn't run as fast as a sprinter, because the sprinter is a specialist. Now that doesn't mean the sprinter could out swim a triathlete, mind you. Crow_Nest
Now, i have improved a lot with red stance. but i'm still lousy.
topshot
Try using a combo of all stances. That oughta boost your experience points!
Crow_Nest
In that case, give me some blue stance combos please.
Kurgan
In my Not So Humble Opinion, if you are hung up on "laming" then you will never be a good player... Why? Because rather than learning to counter powerful techniques, you'll forever be whining and demanding they "hold back" these techniques that are supposedly unfair. I remember how much laughter I had when I was playing somebody in a duel (something I rarely do anymore due to the fact that other worthy game types are so under-represented it seems) and they would beat me time after time. Then I realized they were using Red Stance exclusively. So I switched to yellow (normally I switch around, not staying in any one for long). Finally I switched to blue. Boom. I won battle after battle. The fact was this guy had no tactics for beating blue whatsoever, since he had apparently focused all his time on Red (probably as a result of playing other people who use Red all the time). Anyway, stuff like that. Sometimes you can fool people when their strategies are "over-optimized" for a certain type of gameplay. If you're not playing for Money, perhaps your goal shouldn't be to win "all the time" and rather to constantly improve and hone your skills. Having fun of course is the real reason to play, but if you place all your hopes on never losing, you are bound to be disappointed. Playing with "honor" however, will limit your performance. If you are having problems, why not "fight dirty"? Pull+kick, do the backstab, "lame" him, and perhaps that will find the chink in his armor. I know it sounds "dishonorable" but if winning is your goal, why not? These are techniques anyone can use, and in a "real" battle, honor wouldn't matter one bit, just who is left standing at the end. I'm not saying cheat, but if you hold yourself back, and you lose, well.... you have no one to blame but yourself. ; ) PS: Clans are great and all, but I don't get how a clan, who has trained together for a long time, can brag when they beat a rag-tag group of folks who's team is a pickup game, who obviously haven't trained together (are disorganized, etc). I mean yeah, it feels good to do a "beat down" now and then, but the only real way to see the skill of clans is when they play against other clans, not random people they gang up on. Maybe that sounds like "honor" again, but competatively, how else does one compare the skill of teams? Which is more impressive... if the Boston Celtics beat a bunch of guys randomly selected from the audience to form a team, or if they beat the Chicago Bulls? PPS: My site is back up. |GG|Carl
I fyou cannot be offensive vs. the pros, try to be defensive instead. use light side powers such as: absorb, protect, heal, speed etc. That makes them unable to hurt you so much, and after they have attacked, you shall attack them, then they won't expect it, and they won't be protected from you. When you have killed them some times, they will probably get very annoyed(if i know the xith clan right...) and try even harder to kill you, and if they don't kill you then, then you have became a PRO! Crow_Nest
hmm... about the force powers thing, i don't play a force enabled server so forget about it. Anyway i have found a way to counter the famous "3 swings" attack.

WH-TheProphet
god damn, what a stupid question is that? how do I kill pro's....I mean common, isn't the answer to that obvious? play better!!! train more often, play alot of duels and fight fight fight.... I've become an expert at this game in no time and only very few can beat me....actually, only my own clan member can beat me, MK rocks the house !!! lllKyNeSlll
haha. clan MK. I suppose this is the clan led by swede. Well some of your top members were good including swede/power. But those 2 are the only ones that are super good. The rest I can beat in both guns and ff sabers. Swede/vertex are in clan aP with me hoodwinker and morrison now. Yes you will probably be one of the better players out there prophet, but I wouldn't call you an expert. Yoda is the best ff saberist and I can 10 to 0 him now. Vertex (power) is equal 1v1 to me and swede is slightly better. But the only super experts in MK are Power (vertex) and SWede
