Zoom Rabbit
That's right. Battlestar Galactica, the old starfighter's space opera from the 70's, is being re-done as a mini-series on the Sci-fi channel. It's supposed to come out this december. http://www.galactica2003.net I'm so excited! The original came out when I was a kid, and was my favorite teevee show while it was on. It suffered from bad writing, and got axed after two seasons...but I've always thought it was a storyline that could be done very well if re-made properly. It looks like I'm going to get my wish. Note: they're also going put out a starfighter sim on X-box. Viper patrol, anyone?
Darth Eggplant
I just hope there's no friken Dagget this time.
Zoom Rabbit
That's no frackin' dagget...and there's no mention of them so far. Here's a screenshot from the game, showing the view down the launch bay. Fire up the turbos!
Azrael
Wow, I really hope this doesn't suck. That would just fall in line with so many 70's remakes. Edit: In the original series,Starbuck was a guy. I already smell a ****ty series. Why? Because they're trying to appeal to women. Sad.
Antilles_CL
Yay! That'll be nice to see! Wait what is it?
edlib
Hmmm... curious. I'll try to keep an open mind towards this one. Could be good. The original was on TV around the same time as the Buck Rogers TV show, wasn't it? Or did that come that later? Now all that's left is a "Space 1999" revival. Die Another Day
Hey, Space 1999 was great! Okay, maybe it wasn't... I was a fan of Battlestar Galactica when they showed the re-runs sometime in the 1980's, just when I was a little kid. I think the game looks quite good, but a re-make of the TV series is pushing it a little. I'll reserve judgement on this until I watch it (or play, for that matter). Darth Groovy
I grew up with this show. I loved the Cylons. I think the ships look good, and nice to see that they have not changed the looks of things all that much. Dunno what I think about that Cylon chick though.... I think it is just another blatent attempt to get some more flesh into yet another "sci-fi for TV" bit again.
obi
I didn't "grow up with the show" or anything, but I am still a huge fan of the series. *Can't wait for December*
nova_wolf
Im kinda looking forward to it... Yes, it will be very odd, but for those of us that did 'grow up with it', you have to admit, it can't be any worse than the last series or two when they actually REACHED Earth... I bet Barry Van Dyke is less than pleased looking back at THAT stage of his career! PS - Bring on the Colonial Vipers! Star Hounds ROCK!
toms
looks...er... interesting... could probably go either way. If it had been me i would have replaced Apollo with a girl (he was always a bit of a boring, goody goody character anyway) and kept starbuck male... he was always the coolest characterby far and im just not sure the character will work as a woman. Wonder if they will replace the Starbuck/ Adamas daughter romance with starbuck/apollo.... shudder.. The cylon chick (no 6) does look like a stupid, 7of9 copy just to get a bit of sex in there, but overall it looks remarkably like Space, Above and Beyond. of course, i haven't watched anything on the sci-fi channel since they cancelled Farscape and replaced it with lots of rubbish... so it would take something special to get me to go back... nova_wolf
Nah - they said they are NOT gonna do a romance between Apollo and Starbuck. But I reckon that will happen, a season or two down the line of it takes off.
Zoom Rabbit
Yeah, I have a problem with Starbuck being turned into a female, too. Don't get me wrong...I'm 100% in favor of equality between men and women, and I'm the first to say *Yeah!* when they start writing in female fighter pilots, presidents and whatnot. But, dammit! Starbuck is not a girl! He's the ultimate stereotype of the happy-go-lucky, gambling, drinking and womanizing starfighter pilot. How can he be a womanizer if he's a woman? *(Looks up a couple of websites.)* Okay, scratch that. Women can womanize, too, I guess...
Surfnshannon
*porn music plays in background* dunanananan dun duna OOO...oops wrong forum.... Partially off-topic: Did they even stop showing the old episodes of Farscape? Or are all these really crappy sci-fi movies just in for the summer line up?
