The Count
Hi everyone I ned some help with photoshop, I have a really small picture, however I'd like to resize it, but when I do it comes out terrible (yes I know magnify the pixels) Does anyone know how I can enlarge the photo without any distortion of quality like that? Jah Warrior
unfortunately you can not really do it, you can only enlarge what you already have and hence as you increase the size you increase the blockiness.
pbguy1211
was it originally a jpg or something? or was it an actual picutre... if so, can you rescan it? because rescanning at a different rate would be the only way to enlarge it without losing quality. Matt-Liell
There is no way around it with Photoshop 7. However there is a program you can buy which is called Hijack Pro or something like that. My teacher at school showed me it. It can resize any picture or so he tells me, I've never used it personaly.
pbguy1211
you CANNOT increase the size of a smaller picture (as long as it's digital) without getting some kind of pixelation!
Agen
yeah but special programs try and cover it up by logically thinking what it should look like.
•-BLaCKouT-•
You could try applying a small amount of Gaussian Blur to reduce the pixel edging a little, but it'll only work to a point. The others have already hit the nail on the head about enlarging digital originals. B.

TheJackal
I'm guessing the image you want to increase is a web picture. The resolution on those are around 72dpi (dots per inches). That is terribly small. So making them larger is like trying to make the smell of a pile of dog crap go away by stomping on it. If its a picture you've scanned, then try setting the scanner resolution around 100-200 or even 300 if you can.
