Whoa! Pacbell sues the RIAA!

About time someone took a stance against what is such a broad and wide attempt to catch copyright infringers.....

Why isn't anyone taking them to court for encouraging it's member companies to stop copying of copyright material by placing copy protection..

Under Australian copyright law, it is legal to make a copy, as with most countries. The RIAA (US) / ARIA (Aust) don't like the digital copying, when it is legal. There is no distinction in our laws for that.....

I hate the Digitial Millenium act, but that's life. I hope more people take a stand against the RIAA. If nobody stops them then who knows who will come after them, probably the MPAA.

And that was one of the funniest things I have ever seen! What an idiot! I will not eat syrup again...ever!

This is like a breath of fresh air. Finally someone noticed that the RIAA is completely unchecked... I hope PacBell beats the **** out of them in court.

"We are disappointed that Pac Bell has chosen to fight this, unlike every other ISP which has complied with their obligations under the law. We had previously reached out to SBC to discuss this matter but had been rebuked," the statement read

Is it just me or does that sound like something an official from the Empire in Star Wars would say? That statement creeps me out.

At least this time it's not the big guy versus the little guy. It's the big guy versus the little guy... and their big brother ISP. :p

PacBell has the right idea - if only Bright House Networks (formerly Time Warner) would follow suit, it would totally rock.

Time Warner would never get on the side of the ISP, it has too much invested in it's recording side of things......
