  3. This song got periodically been stuck in my head for 20+ years, despite the fact that I surely hadn't heard it since 1998. When the game came out, the idea that there would be over a minute of animation and an original song just hidden behind a non-essential hot spot was like an audaciously opulent use of FMV. I don't think Humongous ever did anything quite like that again, but it was cool. When my kids first played Putt-Putt I was interested to see what they would think about that part. They had been playing for about ten minutes before they clicked on the 'Topiary Creatures', and then kind of sat there dumbfounded as the song played. At the end, my seven-year old announced "Ok, we are NEVER clicking on that EVER AGAIN". But by the second or third playthrough they willingly clicked on it several times in a row, and since then we have sung the song while walking to the park, so its power as an ear-worm is enduring. 🥲

  4. That's some good parent insight to hear - so kids can like Putt-Putt and it holds up, but the world is different now and there's a lot pushing against it. It does make sense. Yeah it better! Also it's on Bandcamp from the composer in uncompressed quality (and with unused alternate versions). It's such a good album.

  6. You know, a little while ago I went on Reddit and said Part 5 of this game was the endgame battle between Guybrush and LeChuck. As soon as Guybrush screams that he's coming, and LeChuck hears the echoes and responds by pulling levers, the two of them are in DIRECT COMMUNICATION and having a mental battle (or, puzzle battle) against each other. I said this was the climactic battle, and Guybrush won when he solved the pirate wheel and cornered LeChuck. . . . But then Ron Gilbert did the Cressup interview. No, there was no final battle between Guybrush and LeChuck. And apparently it was very important that there was no final battle. So reddit and the steam forums can keep talking about the game ending before the climax, and I can't answer them because Ron said they were right. EDIT: I guess it's just more "I don't want to believe"! 🤪

  7. An idea that I don't recall being mentioned, following on from the idea that the secret of Monkey Island is a gateway to Hell. When Guybrush steps through the code-wheel door at the end of Return he enters hs own personal Hell. One where all of his impressive adventures were nothing but imagination. Where the fantastic secret he finally managed to discover was nothing but a joke T-shirt. Where the archenemy he triumphantly defeated multiple times was nothing but an animatronic. It also fits in with the old "Guybrush goes to Hell and Stan is there" plot.

  8. On topic: I kinda dislike how good the trailer feels. It gives me goosebumps seeing Indy on a new adventure again, and the setting looks fresh, inviting and very true to Indy. Harrison Ford at 80 is doing fan-tas-tic! I don’t know how he does it, but I believe every punch he throws and every action he’s in! Even de-aged Indy I think looks pretty good, even though I dislike the technique with a passion. The only thing that bothers me is the “clean” look the digital filming process gives it. It’s a huge difference compared to the 35mm film the original 3 films used. All in all I’m still really sceptic about this film, but the trailer gives me good vibes.
