  1. Is this website legit? I don't know much about key resellers, but it looks promising. Just want to make sure that the $ eventually gets back to Double Fine (in a roundabout way).
  2. I'd like to buy it. I have no problems giving my money to those that deserve it, but I just wish there was an option for me. This is what I get if I click on your link: Question: Is it possible for someone in another region to buy it and gift it to me through Steam?
  3. Unfortunately not... is it only on Steam for PC or Mac?
  4. So, it seems like The Cave is unavailable in my region (Japan) using Steam. Using a VPN also doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions on how I could purchase it? BTW I emailed Double Fine about it a while back but didn't receive any response.
  5. I know it's just anecdotal, but I've seen a lot of love for The Dig online recently (twitter, as well as the Steam community, etc.). It seems like it's actually remembered quite well by those that played it. The Dig is the last LA adventure game I played (well... besides Labyrinth) and going in with low expectations I was very pleasantly surprised. Sure, it may have it's drawbacks and it's not my favourite, but it's a good reminder that even the 'lesser' LA games are quite good and have high standards. As I played I refrained from comparing it with others and really enjoyed myself.
  6. I had troubles figuring this out myself. Am I okay? (Sorry for the repost as I also put this in another thread!)
  7. Not sure if I should post this under another thread or not, but I've been looking at the specs and trying to do some research online but it's making my head dizzy (I'm so out of the loop with current processors and graphics cards its ridiculous). Anyways, wanted to ask: Am I good? Or will I have troubles?
  8. Man... now that I got home I've been watching that clip non-stop. The music and transitions are just.... 💖 Soon as I get my hands on this game I think I'm going to curl up in bed and just walk back and forth in the SCUMM Bar (and other environments) just listening to the music and watching the animations. I might spend so much time just looking and watching that I'll forget to actually play it! 😅 So if I disappear for a few months you'll know why - I spent so many hours and hours just admiring the game that I haven't managed to finish it yet!
  9. I don't know if I'm reading into this too much, but isn't it strange that Murray is in so many different locations in the screenshots? Makes me wonder whether he plays a more important role, like Murray is the hint system or something. Sidekick Murray? Also, the PC Gamer screenshot is the first time we've seen Elaine on Melee isn't it? I feel like that changes my view of how Melee will play out, as previously I was under the impression that Guybrush returned to Melee on his own...
  10. Ok, I'm trying to get a web version (rather not on my phone) but the second link doesn't have the newest edition. Anywhere else to purchase it?
  11. It is similar... but far as I can tell a little different. He kind of disappears quickly with a pop as well, but he first shrinks down towards the bottom of the screen. Actually, after watching the VGA version again it may be the same, but the animation just looks a LOT faster in the VGA and you don't really see the shrinking as much.
  12. So I'm near the end of my first ever EGA play through and I decided to go with the ending where you spray Bob with the root beer. This brought up two questions/thoughts: 1. Is the animation in the EGA version different when Bob is sprayed compared to the VGA? Rather than smearing away like the other ghosts on Melee he kind of shrinks down to nothing. I could be completely misremembering, but I don't recall that animation at all in the VGA version when I used to play it. 2. I guess this ending has been decanonized if Bob appears in Return.... unless they try to explain him coming back in the game (which I think is unlikely).
  13. This is a beautiful drawing and quite similar to how I've envisioned it. That being said, I always thought the cliffs beneath the governor's mansion were above (or near the ocean), not with more town below. That's something I definitely agreed with when they recreated the mansion in EMI. Also, I guess I would have rotated high town by 90 degrees clockwise rather than having it come back towards the clock. Anyways, great job - if I had any artistic talent I'd try recreating it myself.
  14. Oh, you're right - I've never seen that before. Thanks for looking it up, I'm excited to finish the EGA version now!
  15. That's actually what I was thinking, but if it is this part doesn't match up... You know... I just have to say that these things were obviously not too important to the artists, especially with the differences between the outside of the shop and inside, etc. Makes me wonder why people can't give the same leeway to the artistic differences with Melee in EMI vs SOMI. (Not that I want to engage in a huge debate again or anything 😅)
  16. Hey, I was tempted because I really like it... but as much as I like it, the version I'll always prefer is the VGA floppy. That's the one I've grown up on and played 95% of the time.
  17. Ooooh... interesting. I seem to recall seeing it in the VGA floppy version, but once again, I could be wrong.
  18. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I always though you could see shadows of the fireworks in the VGA version. (I haven't finished playing the EGA version yet, so maybe its more dramatic in the original and I'll be pleasantly surprised.)
  19. Yes, but the inventory and verbs are the same as the EGA.
  20. Sorry, can’t believe I missed that you already answered that exact question 😅 I don’t know… I also think this is a bit harsh. I don’t have my computer with me at the moment so I can’t start it up and double check, but far as I remember it was led by Aric Wilmunder and Sean Clark also involved with programming?
  21. Ok, first of all thanks for drawing attention to that clarification (I also noticed that some posts were grouping VGA and VGA CD together, even though they are very separate releases). I grew up on the VGA release but only played the VGA CD once, years later. That being said, IMHO “a bug ridden abomination” and “an abomination built on top of a bug ridden abomination” seems a little… harsh? I was actually comparing the versions myself last night and I was surprised that there were so many big names involved in the CD version. Besides a) removing the stump joke b) messing up the character lighting c) adding the non-Land Stan theme, what other bugs are present in the VGA CD version? Personally I also really enjoyed the SE and thought that it showed a lot of love and care (I enjoyed it much more Thant the MI2 SE). I guess I’m just of the opinion that any new release of any of the games can potentially introduce new players to the series, and isn’t that a good thing? That being said, I also believe that ALL releases should remain available for purchase, and I’m not excited that the SE (and the underlying VGA CD) release is all that is available at the moment. So I completely agree with the article Jason wrote recently.
