  1. This is going to be great. I think you'll like what this is turning into.
  2. Ah well, it's not like something at "only slightly higher" resolution would be of any help here. Plus it's not the complete artwork anyway, since it's at least missing the palmtree at the top.
  3. This is the only one I found on my drives. Is it this one? Even though they aren't great, I'll add the Special Edition posters eventually, just for completeness' sake.
  4. Yes, I think the magazine poster I've used for my current version (while being the highest quality source I had) is an early version of the painting, which differs from the final box art in a few more places. Just compare some parts of the ship and the ropes, which got a few additional highlights and details painted in for the final box art: Of course this might also stem from different scanning or photography settings used back then. But if I should get a chance to work with the "The One" poster, I'll revise this anyway. Unfortunately @m1ckey hasn't replied to my requests yet.
  5. Steve Purcell's "Tales of Monkey" artwork has been added to the opening post.
  6. Exactly. Anything bigger than that? Or was that just the usual resolution of digital photos back then? Also: That would probably be enough for Disney to make a great digital backup of the artwork (I assume that's a print).
  7. I remember a photo of the original MI1 box art painting (or a print), framed, from one of Mojo's LucasArts visits articles. Any chance that might resurface at the full original resolution?
  8. What exactly are those marketing one-sheets? Also I'm curious about the quality of the Steve Purcell MI1 paintings in the Adventurer (issue #1 and especially #2) as the scans available online suffer from severe color shifting on some of them. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1TsQuf-h7Bw/Tmq9Sy_VWlI/AAAAAAAAAVA/8i778huN_zk/s1600/adventurer_02_pg03.JPG
  9. Well, if you can get it scanned or let me scan it for you (I'll happily return it to you afterwards) there'll be no folds left in my restoration of it.
  10. Agreed, we NEED a scan of that. I'll send you a PM.
  11. I didn't say anything about it though, that was Udvarnoky. 😉
  12. The last word on this hasn't been spoken yet. Stay tuned.
  13. I have a whole design idea for a collection as well, including a big slipcase with 5 individual boxes inside (but a bit bigger than the concept above).
  14. Duffadash's "Devil's Playhouse" posters have been added to the opening posts.
  15. Also this seems to be a bit small for maximum attachment size:
  16. Don't do it just yet. I might have another source for scans and don't want to ruin your life.
  17. Sorry about being so picky Scanning can be a bitch though. If you're not too enamoured of the box, you could always just cut off the rest of the lid. I killed my share of boxes and manuals for the "greater good".
  18. Thanks for the effort, although unfortunately Zak is still very blurry: Ideally you would just put a heavy book inside the lid (or stand it upright in there) when you scan it - that should press it flat against the glass.
  19. I'd like to point out a problem with the forums on mobile devices. At least on my phone the header doesn't allow me to access my PMs or notifications - I always have to switch the browser to desktop mode to see the buttons. I don't know if there's anything you can do to fix this or if I'm alone with this problem.
  20. Yeah, those Alone in the Dark artworks are so great, love them! Your restorations are a bit on the soft side, but from the material I've found myself so far, there is not terribly more detail available in box-sized or magazine-sized scans (apart from working from 600dpi scans myself, but you already went through a lot of retouching work!). I'll happily add them to the thread! But: Do you by any chance have versions of your restorations BEFORE upscaling them? I'd like to give that a shot myself. Also I'd like to adjust the colors just a bit... I think the original artworks were supposed to be slightly darker (at least 3 appears to be too bright). The other two unfortunately aren't cutting it quality-wise. I was planning on doing Kyrandia myself, sooner or later, and I think I remember having a full scan of the ToMI artwork somewhere. I'll check. Edit: Nope, can't find it anymore. Maybe I'll do scans myself.
  21. Great, thanks! I think I'll add a "scans I'm looking for" section to the poster thread, to not fill this one up with requests too much.
  22. I'm happily take Zak and Kyrandia. 600dpi, PNG, no automatic color correction or filtering through the scanner software please. And please try to scan it as flat as possible, as blurry parts aren't usable at all. Longcat has offered scanning his Lure of the Temptress poster as well, so I don't know who wants to take on this task.
  23. Yeah, I will sort through these and add them to the opening posts. I agree that the office print isn't something I'd like to include here, even more so with Steve's signature on it. It's not related to any games anyway, so including it would feel inappropriate.
