the 80's? kill it, kill it!

Although actually, after playing prodigious amounts of GTA: Vice City, i now hum nothing else. It's almost like a disease. Except for Madness, who will just always be superb.

Oh yes, the question: rock, alternative, hip-hop, rap

At the moment i'm chilling with Beck, there's nothing like disjointed and bizarre noises to unwind to

Mmm, pretty much everything except most "modern" and/or "popular" artists, most techno (I make exceptions), country, rap and R&B.

I actually have pretty obscure and eccentric music tastes. As in my playlist goes from Counting Crows to Enigma to Hedningarna [itsy-bitsy Nordic band]. But it's not like I'm weird or anything like that. ;)

bubblegum pop is nasty...lemme just get that out of the way...*shudder* britney *shudder*

anyway...i listen to mostly hip-hop...like beyonce...i like jewel, i don't know what her new cd is categorized as...she used to be a folk singer, but this cd isn't folk, for sure. uhh...some rap is okay, like 50 cent is good, as well as missy :D

other stuff. i'll listen to anything except classical music, teeny-bopper music (britney, mandy), and country. my mom listens to country music all the time and it's like torture. anyway, yeah, those are the only three i won't listen to. oh yeah, and 80s music (;)) as well as other old music. everything else i find to be tolerable, though.

80's rock with ridiculous hair... The Darkness, Van Halen, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Iron Maiden, Coverdale & Page, Soundgarden, Metallica (Black album and older), Ynwgie Malmsteen, Nightwish, some classical stuff too.

The 80's provided nothing good in terms of music.

My top bands...(these may seem random, but through my phases of different kinds of music, I kept my favorite band from each type of music and still listen to each one)

1)Phish

2)Weezer

3)Dispatch

4)Coldplay

5)Grateful Dead

6)The Red Hot Chili Peppers

Ern, for all my respect for you as a kick arse forum type dude.....you're just so completely wrong for the 80's comment......now repeat after me "Sorry Roy, I wont say it again".

With you on the Coldplay thing, along with David Gray, U2.......and The Darkness, who are like a cross between Def Leppard and Queen......but with extra campness thrown in.....cool!!!

I usually hate these music posts!!

A lot of good bands started out or got big in the 80s. REM and U2 being good examples.

As for music I listen to, most of it goes under that horrible blanket term 'alternative'. Some examples are Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, The Heavy Blinkers, Kingsbury Manx, Minus 5, Beachwood Sparks, The Tyde, Beulah, The Shins, Blur, The Long Winters, Neutral Milk Hotel, Wilco, Mojave 3, etc. etc. Oh, and sensitive stuff like this.

Hold on to your hats, folks....I'm a classical babe! Mostly Bach and English choral music and stuff...

I listen to a lot of other stuff too, though; I like Steely Dan, Sting, Bela Fleck, and the Brian Blade Fellowship, among others.

the likes of Grandaddy

A friend of mine heard their music in a bar once, and gave me some info.

Since then, I've had more and more respect for their talents every day.

P.S.

M'kay, Roy. The 80's weren't SO bad musicwise.

Can't believe I said that.
