MuRaSaMuNe
Why would you want to play JA without a cd? I doubt Raven would like anyone to get that...

StormHammer
Originally posted by Prime IIRC, from what I have heard, playing without the CD causes problems when playing online... Yep, it does. It leads to errors that people keep coming here to complain about. Don't use a CD crack. Nuff said.
idontlikegeorge
"Why would you want to play JA without a cd?" Because some people hate CDs. Just because I try to find CD-cracks for every game I have doesn't mean I pirate those games. I just like keeping the CD - which I find a horribly fragile medium - safe, and my computer use free to me as needed. If I wanted to require a CD to play my games, what's the point of installing everything onto the hard drive if it just needs the CD for some stupid security reason? I find it stupid, and this modern day mentality of communications/entertainment companies assuming their customers are criminals by default will undoubtedly end up doing them more harm than good. RIAA anyone? /rant

I am very willing to sacrafice 4 seconds of my loading time to read a disc to prevent piracy on any game. Then again, I've never really had to switch discs a lot as I usually don't play many games and have 2 cd drives.

Memory accesses tend to much faster to the hard drive than the CD drive, especially when the CD requirement for a lot of games is only something like 4x. For bigger games, a lot of the data is compressed so it can fit on the CD, but this usually means the game cannot be run when data is in this compressed form. Thus installing on a harddrive (which has more room) is sometimes necessary. RIAA anyone? /rant They don't assume that all their customers are criminals, but they know for a fact that there are those out there who are. It is a case of a few bad apples, so to speak. They need to protect their investment in making the game, and protect their returns. The problem is big enough that they feel that the must take certain precautions. IMO, if all this requires is me having a CD in the drive, I don't find it too much of an inconvenience
Neverhoodian
Well, I use a "no CD" patch for JA SP because I couldn't get it to work without the CD. Something in the disk (possibly the CD key) kept me from playing Single Player. With the patch, however, Single Player works just fine. Oddly enough, I never had any problems with Multiplayer. [offtopic] Yessir, but its Masamune and Murasame. I combined them . And Neverhoodian, I think I encountered the same error. With the launcher, if I choose "Single player game" it will say that CD1 isn't inserted which it is. So I just moved the jasp and jamp exe's onto my desktop and launch those instead. Tsaya
Why would you want to play JA without a cd? Well, try using one of those slot-in Pioneer DVD-Drives: takes like forever to get started and creates a horrible noise. Having a no CD patch of an image of the CD on your HD sure makes playing nicer.
Chewy289
CD-cracks can make it convienent so you don't have to put your CD in everytime you want to play, but I usually don't even bother with them.

Kurgan
If you want to use a CD crack, we can't stop you and that's your free choice, you'll just have to look ELSEWHERE for it, not here. We won't help you find one or give you tech support on how to use it, and if it messes up your system and prevents you from playing on line... guess who's fault it is? Not our's. That said, take care and good luck!
