SamNMax
This is a thread where you can discuss your oppinoin about upcoming movies. How well they will do, if you'll go and see them, if they blow or suck, ect. Scary Movie 3: Will suck but will do well because people are stupid. Mtrix 3 (Whatever it's called)- GOD! NOT ANOTHER ONE!!!!!! I'm not writing any previews since I'm lazy, but now it's your turn to post, kids.
Ernil
Being naturally good hearted, I'm going to give both a chance. Scary Movies have never done well in my book, because I dont usually know the horror movies they parody well at all. Matrix MUST be amazing. Ok...the second one lacked the simple beauty, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt.
Reaper Girl
Dunno about that one, Ernil. I think the orginal "Matrix Magic" is lost...the first was a daring little rebel, the second an over bloated money-filled blister. The Punisher might be crap. I'm not a big Punisher fan (no, i don't hate it, i just haven't seen much of it) but "comic book" movies tend to be crap *remembers the injustices done to her dear Spawny and SwampSwamp and BatBat* Any "Phantom o' the Opera phans out here? See what they are planning for 2004? *plans elborate sucide for PotO movie date*
Remi
I prefered the second Matrix movie to the first one. It'll be interesting to see how the third one will fare. I'm also looking forward to Jon Favreau/Will Ferrell's "Elf". (or that's what I think it's called )
ptdc
I haven't seen the second one. The next film I'll probably see will be ROTK, I hope it'll rock. I'm not sure after TTT though. I probably won't see any other films though because one lonely visit to the cinema is quite enough.
RicardoLuigi...
scary movie 3: it looks pretty good...i mean, it's got pamela anderson and jenny mccarthy in it, right? i haven't seen either of the first two scary movies...but i want to. just haven't got the time.... matrix revolutions: looks excellent, i love the matrix, i just rented the matrix reloaded, and i'll watch it tomorrow hmm...what other movies....oh yeah radio: looks dumb. don't like anything with morals or touchy-feely movies. yech. well, i don't know any other movies, or at least i'm too tired to think of any on my own. This whole affair is an outrage!"--Phantom also, not looking foward to SpiderMan2. and i read rumors(unconfirmed) of a Johnny Bravo movie...starring...yes, i swear to you...the Rock. may monkey feces rain on me if i lied. Thats what i read. The 00's are a dark time indeed for movies. *transports self to...uh...what was a good movie decade? maybe the 80's* "Curse you!....is this what you wanted to see?!"--PotO well...no
Rapp Scallion
Well, for starters.. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King I'm really looking forward to it. I'm gonna watch the premiere. I just have to. Ohh, there's a long way down to the next.... I'm looking forward to Matrix Revolutions. We're gonna see the sky again! I saw it at the end of the trailer! Well, I suppose that's it, really.

Alia
I might be troubled to go see the Return of the King.....but I don't go to lot of movies, so I don't care. If they're worth watching, I can rent them when they come out.
Ernil
Maybe I'll go see The Return of the King. That was Pure Sarcasm. The Lord of the Rings is my life. It's where I get the name ErnilPherianath. It's what I do when I get home from school, when I wake up in the morning, and before I go to bed. Dear Lord, this is going to be a good movie. Alia
Ernil, can you speak Elvish? I'm just curious.
RicardoLuigi...
i personally can't stand lord of the rings. i tried sitting through it once or twice, both times i fell asleep. it has to be one of the most absolute boring movies i have ever seen. very static...monotonous, you know that type of thing. plus, it's something like three and a half to four hours long. nothing could keep me entertained for that long. nothing. i mean, when i sat down to watch it i had a feeling it was gonna be great, everybody said it was awesome, you know. i sit down and start watching. i fell asleep within the first ten or fifteen minutes of it. i know that's kinda weird to some people...i'm not an alien...it just wasn't my type of movie. i do like fantasy movies like that, but the idea was just too detailed, i couldn't grasp the idea. i know there's an evil ring from some orc guy and that's what everyone's trying to get rid of by going to the mountain place, but that's all. i did not understand a single thing that went on besides that. and you know what really creeps me out is that some people actually understand it and sit down with their family and analyze the movie. to me, these people need to find something to do, and fast. i've actually seen people with a book and they are looking at the family tree of everybody in the movie. and they said "so then how is bilbo related to frodo and then where is legolas tied into this whole thing? oh, so bilbo must be frodo's dad's brother's girlfriend's cousin's wife's brother-in-law. i get it." and then they sit down with a pad of paper and translate all the elvish ever written. i can't stand anybody that get's so attached to a movie that they become nerds about them. examples would be: lord of the ring nerds, harry potter nerds, matrix nerds, etc. most of those people scare me, however some come in useful when i don't understand the movie. however, when i ask an obvious question to somebody, they roll their eyes and scoff and then give me the answer like everybody's expected to know that the oracle is a program and so is that bodyguard guy. anyway, that's all i have to say about lord of the rings and movie nerds... Ernil
Ernil, can you speak Elvish? I'm just curious. Nope. I started learning it one day, then thought "Whoa! This is WAY dorkier than I ever want to be." So I didn't learn Elvish. But it didn't help, I still turned out a dork. Hey, Dasie, you don't like Movie Dorks? Good. I'm a Lord of the Rings Book Dork. Yes, I've sat down and studied the Hobbit lineage, but at least no one has ever joined me doing it. i know there's an evil ring from some orc guy and that's what everyone's trying to get rid of by going to the mountain place, but that's all. i did not understand a single thing that went on besides that. Yeah...thats all the farther I've gotten with it, and I've read the books 20+ times.
Alia
You sound like you haven't read the books, Das. If not, you really, really should. The depth and scope of the world Tolkein invented is really beyond anything I've ever read. To watch the movies without reading the books is like putting water in your coffee instead of cream. I could think of more absurd similes, but please, please, PLEASE read them before you dismiss the movies and Ring nerds and all that. You just might change your mind. EDIT: Funny, that's how far I got with Elvish too. Then I thought, hey, I could learn German or French or something...it's not like there are any elves to talk to. Wouldn't it be funny if there were two Ring geeks who spoke different languages and Elvish was their common tongue? The thought amuses me.
Darth Groovy
The fact that another Resident Evil sequal is coming out confirms the fact that little thought process goes into movie making. *yawns* All they need is more half assed CGI, more lame stunts, and yet another soundtrack featureing limp biskit, SlipKnot, and Korn. We have entered into the era of "The Soundtrack Movie". A trend that seemed to have started with the first Mortal Kombat movie. Everyone knows that video game movies generally suck, so why not hype the hell out of it with a soundtrack featuring hot new artists? It never seems to fail. And these movies always seem to suck. Herman Toothdecay
Check out the books man, they are worth taking the time to read (even if it means less time on forums such as these ). you wont regret it, tolkien creates one of those worlds that just draws you in, and it surpasses most fantasy novels ive read. i read all the books before i saw the movies, and it doesnt ruin the movies at all; and because of the excellence of their depiction i found the movies to give me a fantastic visual thrill of the world he creates for you. an excellent suplative to the books, but the books are needed to really enjoy LOTR. Kjølen
Return of the King of course, I enjoyed them tons. Err, yeah that's about it, i'm not up with movies, not much of a movie person, but LOTR is a must, and also, my family always goes to the Harry Potter movies, even though this one is delayed. TO me, the movies don't capture the humour suspense and thought the books had, but really, they're HUGE, they hold a lot of info.

You just might change your mind. i hate reading books. and that's actually weird for me to say because my mom works at a library, but i still hate reading. i personally don't get any pleasure out of wasting my life sitting in a chair reading a 2,000 page book, although some people do and that's fine. i do however enjoy wasting my life watching the t.v. and watching movies (besides lord of the rings) and coming here nearly every day and about the depth and scope of the world thing- i do agree and i think that it's amazing that he could do that, but maybe that's one of the reasons why i can't stand the movies is because i have to comprehend everything that's going in in the other world. i dunno. anyway, the bottom line is that i will never read the books or watch the movies, even in a life or death situation. and i mean it. Alia
That's ok, I'm far more troubled about your distaste for reading. You are breaking my heart. I mean that. But hey, I can't force you to like it, well not from where I am now anyway.
Skinkie
First off, the new Indy movie will rock (I hope...., but with Harrison Ford and Sean Connery how could they go wrong?) Secondly, while The Two Towers was a pretty good movie, I still see the first one as a "real time trek across New Zealand" and find it hard to sit through more than a few minutes of it. The first time it was ok, but now it just seems to keep getting longer.
Alia
Th only thing that really bothered me about the first LOTR movie was the part where Frodo gets stabbed at Weathertop... I think they could have done with fewer close-ups of the guy writhing and groaning and stuff. Ugh. And I liked the part where Merry and Pippin and Sam die, it's too bad that they had to leave out that part.
Ernil
Yep, Andy, The Barrow-Downs, Tom Bombadil, and other such adventures in FOTR that were left out sadden me. Greatly. It makes me feel glad that I know the book so well, and am not missing out on these wonderful tidbits of information like most people are.
Alia
The Barrow-Downs were awesome. The two things that annoyed me about the second movie were - Faramir not being portrayed as nobly as he is in the book - the movie ending before Shelob's lair. I would definitely not have minded a cliffhamger there. I can recall the last words in the second book.... Frodo was alive but taken by the Enemy. It could have ended there. It's a shame that the forumers are all in such different time zones. Then we wouldn't have back and forth stuff because it'd all be thrown around.
