he didnt destroy either of those, the death star prototype can still be made (dont forget they're still 18 years since the end of ep. II-ep. 4)

The way the story goes for the death star is that it was designed BY empirial engineers and they built a prototype. The whole geonosis involvment seems to crap that up.

As for the Kuat, Slave 1 was built and desinged by Kuat (the man no the company). Now, they messed the whole thing up and said it was stolen by Jango (20 years before bobe had it built) from a prison camp. That doesnt erase kuat, but it certainly lowers the EU legitimacy.

Something to remember is that George doesn't OK each and every project - he's a little too busy for that and that was the whole point of Lucas Liscening. They handle all the continuity - writers are told which characters and subjects they can and can't touch e.g. Yoda and Vaders history.

There's always that age old argument between fanboys - is EU real or not? (always a good subject for a poll ;)) George was stated as saying he considers the EU an "alternative universe" within the Star Wars framework.

oh, how so wrong!

he does have to OK each thing, or else he has the right to sue the writers

now... maybe your talking about him not reading it, and just saying "yes" to everything

No, that's the job of Lucas Licsensing. And for what reason would he sue the writers?!? The book wouldn't be published if it didn't get past the licencing department and thus the writer wouldn't be sued. That's the job of Lucas Licensing.

The writers hand in a story outline, if it's approved then a draft. If thats then approved then a few more drafts and the final copy is sent to the publishers and printers.

Well for certain aspects like Copyrighted material like Boba's ship and anything that has been in the movies, Lucas is probably aware of them, or he has experts who work for him that know whether or not he would want that particular thing mentioned in the book, or what could be done about it.

Jar Jar doesn't die but he's not really in it either. Supposedly he's fulfilled his role in the story (being duped into giving Palpatine emergancy powers) and has about the same screen time as he did in AOTC. So we'll probably just see him in the Senate and at the funeral.

I dont think she dies because they will have to show her going to Alderaan with Leia who will become the adopted child of Capt Antilles and to see luke go with Obi-wan Kenobi to Tatooine to be taken under the care of Anakin's stepbrother, Owen Lars and Beru. My guess is that because only a handful of people knew of Anakin's and Padme's secret wedding (how modern of them), Bail Organa devises a way to forge a falsified wedding between himself and Padme(who is closer to him in age than that of Anakin), which would seem more believable to them, since apparently they dont know of the Demi Moore/Ashton Kutcher affair going on now.

We do know that there is a scene in Ep3 where Obi takes Luke to Owen Larrs, because in the special features of the AOTC DVD, it shows them filming an extra scene for Ep3 while they are in Tunisia, because they didn't want to return to there to film just one scene.

So, you can gather from that there will also be a scene where we see Leia being taking to Alderaan by Bail Organa.

I doubt it's Padme actual death, but perhaps for her protection, everyone's led to believe it's her funeral.

Allowing her to be whisked away to Alderaan secretly to give birth to Luke and Leia with Anakin and the soon-to-be Emperor without a clue to the future saviors of the galaxy.
