Wow... Mr. Burger is rather mis-informed with the whole 'adventures are dead' statement. Have a look at Adventure Gamers if you want to learn more about adventure games in productions, a handful of which are looking truly great. Broken Sword 3 (to be released in the next few weeks), The Longest Journey 2 and the next Sam & Max game are some of the ones I'm looking forward to.

Mr Burger sucks.

i've had to wait years for him to finally announce that he'd decided to make another game... only to hear that he's participating in a whole new genre.

He IS making another game, idiot.

Also, rumour has it he was working on a new game before he left LucasArts. Hmmm....

i fear if psychonauts is successful, he will abandon adventure forever. the genre would be dead in every sense of the word.

stop reminding me that i sound insulting to tim schafer, because whether i do or not i am telling you flat out that i love him.

The Genre would not be dead without Tim Schafer. He may make a kick ass adventure game, but there are other designers, other developers, that can do that too.

Also, you pretty much are flat out insulting Tim, because you're accusing him of selling out, and you're saying his new game is going to suck compared to his other games, and that he shouldn't switch genres.

I'm gonna have your ass, Mr Burger, and not in a kinky way.

Yeah, I never played the Longest Journey, but my brother did. Said it was boring or something. I haven't played Broken Sword either....I guess I spend too much time reliving the Lucasarts oldies and editing family photos.

I can't wait for Psychonauts to come out! I can't wait- oh, wait, have I said this already? My mistake. I love Tim. I do. It's pathetic how much I admire him. And how many times I have reread the Double Fine news pages.

I told you it was over. :brow:

i bought longest journey and it was a beautiful dud. so many awe-inspiring environments, no wit.

i have never played broken sword... what does that mean? your first thought: that i can't say anything bad about it. my first thought: if i've never played it then it mustn't be too noteworthy. also that is definitely an unspoken-of game on this forum.

i tried to play sam 'n max but it was a little too much on the cheesy jokes than i'd like. not nearly as witty as monkey island.

Broken Sword is considered one of the best in the genre (at least the first one is), and so is Sam & Max and TLJ (though I'm not a huge fan of it myself) by both general gaming media and most major adventure gaming sites. Point is though, even if you don't the games, it's going a bit far declaring a genre dead.

Have you ever played Spider Solitaire? My grandmother taught it to me. Man, I could play Solitaire for hours. It's just that great.

*puts eyes out...again*

No, I think Mr.Burger idolizes the first two MI games, and finds it hard to find other games that measure up to his standards. Now when you idolize something, it IS hard to find its peers, right? So this isn't anything unnatural. So he has high standards. And maybe different taste than some people. Neither are bad.

I think that, as small as the adventure game genre is, the games themselves vary widely. That is another thing that is so cool about them.

No more than three 'good' adventure games were ever really released in a year together, even in their, "prime", Burger.

Now you're saying adventure games are as good as dead without Tim Schafer, and yet there are three perfectly good examples of adventures that you're mocking?

I don't understand. Do you just like arguing or something?

I don't know, Burger...the way you introduced yourself as the antogonist at the opening was kind of..I forget the word. I actually do.

Shall we engage in a lengthy debate concerning Mr.Burger's intentions? Would he ever cry uncle?
