Flying Beastie Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 Just confirming what we all knew in the 80s.
edlib Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 I met Jeff "Skunk" Baxter. Nice guy. Knows his s***.
Zoom Rabbit Posted November 12, 2003 Posted November 12, 2003 The Soviet Union was unprepared for rock music. Perhaps we could take this lesson to our struggle against islamic fundamentalism... *(Goes and plays 'Rock the Casbah' by the Clash REAL LOUD.)* Are they singing 'rock the casbah?' Are you sure...?
Nute Gunray Posted November 12, 2003 Posted November 12, 2003 I've always been fond of the cause of the fall of Communism being given as Coke, McDonalds, and Snickers.
Ray Jones Posted November 13, 2003 Posted November 13, 2003 nah. socialism isnt ass.. it just didnt worked out the way they did it in my country.. and the socialistic behinds look exactly like all the others.
Zargon Posted November 14, 2003 Posted November 14, 2003 Originally posted by RayJones nah. socialism isnt ass.. it just didnt worked out the way they did it in my country.. You mean ANY COUNTRY don't you?
Zoom Rabbit Posted November 15, 2003 Posted November 15, 2003 Ray lives in the deep, dark woods with the little Forest People, who have evolved an egalitarian form of pure socialism where all elves and faries work toward the common good of the forest under the gentle tutelage of the Mushroom King, who himself foregoes the notion of personal wealth so he may better serve the wellness of his people. Or something.

In short, the Pacific Northwest? I knew I didn't like that part of the country. They're all with their "legalize this" and "illegalize that" and "don't go shooting guns in the house."
Zoom Rabbit Posted November 15, 2003 Posted November 15, 2003 As an *Oregonian* I must take exception to that stereotype. I shoot guns in the house all the time. Keeps the cats from dozing off...
Flying Beastie Posted November 16, 2003 Author Posted November 16, 2003 Yes, but your house is mobile. And your cats are probably limited to melee weapons. It stops being fun when they learn how to shoot back.
Thrawn Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 There is a socialist group here at UMCP. I find their flyers hilarious. Oh well. I like to think the Beatles had a strong influence on the fall of the Berlin Wall:)
edlib Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 The Beatles?... I would have thought Pink Floyd's influence would have been more apparent... Either them or Tower Of Power...
Ray Jones Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 Originally posted by Nute Gunray In short, the Pacific Northwest? strange enough it was called "German Democratic Republic" ..
Nute Gunray Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 The Pacific Northwest almost sent us to war because of a British pig getting assassinated by an American farmer. Then again, my area actively rebelled against the US government over whiskey taxes.

Ah yes, I've had many a run in with them. They're always hanging around outside the Student Union handing out those flyers. I haven't looked at one in a while but the last time I saw one, they were as poorly xeroxed as you'd expect a socialist flyer to be. The UMCP pinkos don't dissapoint
