HUGE idea (Literally)

I was talking to Ryxx about this, so now I'm going to tell everyone.

 

You all know there's been a bunch of organized mount races, but I have an idea for the best one ever....

 

It would be the Annual Tatooine World Wide Race- Sponsored by The Affiliates. Here's the low down;

 

It would be a race held once a year, the goes across all of tatooine. It would begin in the lSoutheast corner of Tatooine, run to the Northwest corner, south to the southwest corner, up to the Northeast corner, then back down to the southeast corner to finish. Between all of those big areas, there would be checkpoints. The race would go near famous sites, such as Fort Tusken, and the Sarlacc. The race would be very hazardous, and take a long time, a lot of people, and a lot of money. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners would win a bunch of money, maybe 1 million credits to the person who makes 1st place or something. We would need people at all of the checkpoints, healing and entertaining, and people at all of the starports and shuttleports, making sure nobody cheats. The racers would pay a 10k entrance fee if they entered ahead of time, and a 15k entrance fee on the day of the race. The entrance fees would help pay for the med supplies and entertainers. The Checkpoints would aslo be protected. In order to win the race, you would have to be spotted at each of the checkpoints, and make it to the finish.

 

What's the point to this? There is none really, except that it would be a really fun thing to do, and it would be great publicity for the guild. I think it would be fun for us to run the biggest mount race ever.

That's really HUGE =). I think it's a good idea, but can we pull it off? The other thing that I'm wondering about is if it will be entertaining enough. A race of this magnitude would probably take an hour at least. Will people want to ride for that long?

I think we should do this biannually because anually would be like ...well maybe three times at most. We could not do it monthly because it will cost so much time and money to set this

 

I can provide the purse of 1st 500k, 2nd 300k, 3rd 100k which is 900k which means 90 aplicants would need to apply to equal out in money. I really think we could get about 200 people to do this if we advertise like crazy. 200 applicants would be 1mil, 600k, 200k prize money with 200k to spare. Other prizes from the crafters of the -A- could be presented: armor, pets, weapons spice etc etc. Maybe have some sort of raffle for this. Or cool prizes like best named pet. Pets and Masters that look the most similar in looks.

 

Checkpoints- There should be as few as possible while still having enough to make sure nobody cuts corners. The race should start out really straight and have about 3km to the first checkpoint so we can write down the names of the racers at every checkpoint. I don't think we need people healing and such at checkpoints but we could have a pit crew in case somebody gets incaped/killed and/or wants to pull from the race. We could have corzip lead that, him being able to revive and such. Checkpoints should be made out of a small harvestor, mineral would probablly work best. There should be at least 10 checkpoints and should be about 4 at the first one and 3-4 at second and 2-3 at rest. The start should have 4-5 and finish people could be same as start.

 

This means that the man power would be about 30-40 people. That is like our whole city volunteering for this and ALL being on at the same time.

 

Advertisment- Bazaar 3k items with info. OF post with all the info. /shout commands everywhere. E-MAIL!!!! do a huge pass-it-on e-mail thing and just hope everyone gets an e-mail.

 

Rules- Rules will need to be made ASAP. For a prize of 500k we do not want anyone cheating and we want everyone to feel that it was a fair race. One very important question is: Will people be able to get off thier mounts during the race? If not, how can we prevent it?

If we need the entire city to do this, and if we can get the entire city to do this (or atleast most of it), then the money we earn on this, if anything, should go to the city only.

 

If its just us, I say we keep the money for the PA.

 

Also, when placing 3k stuff in the Bazaar, make sure it's something really cheap, but sought after be alot of people, so noone buys them up.

 

For the question if people can be able to dismount during the race, why not? It'll take them longer to do that than to run an extra 5-10 meters, so that will only slow them down, won't it?

You could do it anually in game time. Jan you do the math . Theres something like 4 days in-game per day in real-life. I guess all planets year rotation is different, but we could just use 365.

 

Ive had an idea for a long time like this, except, you have to go by foot.... across Dathomir. It would be very hard to prevent cheating though because of mounts.

that is why you set waypoint for people to to across. then set up people to wait and make sure those people cross it..if they cross it then they are ok. I think it would be cool if we stayed with mounts, but the judges had speeders. I don't know, kind of like a marathon.

 

When space comes out, I call the planning of the space race =).

if 200 people are registered it would be difficult to write all those names down to keep track of who passed the waypoint, especially if a bunch passed through at the same time,

It wouldn't be as fun if it was only us Jan. And Osirus, the way we would keep track of the people at checkpoints, is that they would have to say something as they pass by. Here's an example.

 

You're sitting at a checkpoint, 20 people go by, but they all say their names, so you can just look in the spatial window, and write down the names of the people, then report it to the person at the finish line.

 

Now, about the pit crew thing, that is what the checkpoints are for. Let's say you get attacked a bunch of times, and you're afraid dying would slow you down. You just stop at the checkpoint/pitstop, heal up a bit, then you're on your way!

wow this is really cool...my question is. will we have enough entertainer's? that's my question. Cause the only entertainer's I know in the guild and city is You, me and Tebra...

If we are going with in-game year, then we would have to go after the Galactic Standard Time, which is 368 days.

That is, if my memory serves me right, around 52 normal days.

I haven't really done the math on this, because I don't know which planet I should go after. But Tatooine is very close, has a daycycle of around 23 hours or so. Naboo I don't know, but in-game a minute is around 8 seconds, roughly. Same with Tatooine really. And Corellia. Dantooine is around 5-6 seconds per in-game minute, so it has less standard hours in a day.

 

Anyway ....

 

For the Pit-stop crew thing, I suggest each racer brings it's own pit-stop crews. Or?

On second thought, that might create cheating as it's easy for a competitor to listen in or take a peak at the dancer from another team that is better.

I think it would be better if we did it annually in our time. If we're able to set it up good enough though, we could switch the games version on annually. But that might cause confusion in some people.

I think every 52 days is alittle close, yes. we should wait atleast I think till every 100 days to do it again.

 

But let's worry about that when the time comes. Let's try and organise a race first, then worry about when to hold the next one.

Let's get some experience on this first, before we decide if we can hold a race every in-game galactic year or not.

I think if people are going to stop, they are going to quit. The only way you win is if you just keep on going. I suppose we could have some medics and entertainers at every checkpoint. And as for the name yelling out thing I was thinking about that too, I think that will make it less confusing.

 

How about all this week people collect waypoints for checkpoints and on friday or saturday of next week we go to tatooine and share our ideas.
