It always sounds so simple when people say it like that. Nothing in life is simple, however.

Some people can't correct weight problems. There are biological disorders that may always prevent them from losing the pounds. Besides, what's wrong with being overweight? There was a time in history when being overweight was beautiful and a round figure was desirable. It's all due to the changing views of society.

My physics teacher told us yesterday that he was the fat kid when he was in school. He was mercilessly teased and ridiculed for it. It got to the point where he seriously pondered suicide as a way to escape the persecution. He finally decided that if he lost weight, he would be popular. He ended up losing about 45 pounds in a course of only two weeks. Alarmed at such a drastic loss of weight, his parents took him to the doctor, who diagnosed him as being anorexic. (yes, it can happen to men) It took him a long time and much emotional turmoil to break the destructive self-starving.

A friend of mine was also the fat kid when he was younger. He used to go to school in southern California before moving up to my town in northern California. He told me that he had absolutely no friends at his old school. They teased him, tried to fight him, and jumped him every day after school. If they only stopped to know him as a person, they would realize on what they were missing. He is an incredible person who has gone through some truly tragic times in his life. Every time he's made a friend, they've always had to move away. He's been run over by a car. His only girlfriend died in a car accident. He lives with a tyrannical father who always tries to find excuses to yell at him and cut him off from trying to have any social life. Yet through all this, he's coped admirably and has a positive and hopeful outlook on life.

If only people would look beyond what's on the outside and focus on the person within. We all lose our looks anyway as we get older. Why focus on looks when personality lasts so much longer and is, in the end, more important?

Some people are overweight due to other health reasons so going on a diet is not as simple as it sounds. I know some overweight people (heavily overweight) and they are such nice people. From this I have to never ever judge a book by its cover.

I never said they were bad people. I know alotta overweight people, and they are really nice, but, instead of complaining abouttheir weight, they should do something about it. Thats all im saying.

I never said that you said they were bad people. My point is that we don't go saying 'they should lose weight'. Its their life, their business, it's up to them. Who cares if they're overweight?

mmm... I may sound insensitive, but I dont really see what that could hurt... maybe a little pride, but personally if some friends made a video of me doing that, Id have to laugh... Guess it might be different if I was mentally challenged?

The WHOLE WORLD has seen this video. It was on the news and everything. Everywhere he went, the boy was ridiculed.

If it were just a few 100 peopel that saw it, it wouldn't be a biggie, but many saw it.
