Joetheeskimo
I just bought a book on PHP, and I can't stop reading, I won't stop reading until I'm down to the very last page. I love programming. It opens so many possibilities. So, while I'm simmering in excitement, I realized I should ask you swampies: are any of you programmers? I know these programming and web design languages: ~ HTML ~JavaScript ~Visual Basic ~Starting PHP I first discovered HTML when I wondered what the "View Source" thing meant. I got several books on HTML, and once I had it down, I discoverd JavaScript and started on that. After getting bored with that, I wanted to start a real programming language, and decided to start off with something easy: Visual Basic. I soon realized that it couldn't really do much, so I started searching for a book on PHP. So, how many programmers are out there? Tell us how you got started! Neverhoodian
I know basic HTML. That's about it. I first learned about HTML in a computer camp. I created my first website there. A year later my junior high had an HTML unit in computer class, so I got a chance to brush up on my skills. Now I'm working with a friend of mine on a Nintendo gaming website. It won't be anything spectacular, but we hope that it'll be a good resource site for Nintendo gamers.
Joetheeskimo
Cool. Give me the URL when you're done. Oh, and if yo want your sites to look professional, then spend some extra money and get Dreamweaver. Oh, and a tip: Learn CSS. It's mandatory for HTML. Samuel Dravis
I know HTML (although if you are just starting, get a book on XHTML instead of HTML. It is sort of a halfway point between HTML and XML), CSS, Visual Basic, ASP, XML (really cool stuff, you should check it out) some Javascript, although I mainly use VBScript. Right now I'm trying to learn C++. I soon realized that it couldn't really do much [with VB]Are you kidding? You can do a LOT of stuff with it. And programming gets very fun when you know everything you need to make your program. Hehe. I made ConfigED and MCM mostly just for the praise... Although I have Dreamweaver, I don't really like to use it that much. Yeah, I'm a Notepad using fool... CSS isn't mandantory to use HTML, it just makes your job a lot easier. I like it. DarkLord60
I don't know alot of programing but one thing I do know is HTML. I have had one class and rest was self taught.
Jedi Luke
HTML and Visual Basic are the two main forms of programming that I've done. I've started learning the C language (for modding and stuff) but I don't have C++ and only know the basics.
Darth Eggplant
I learnt HTML from scratch, but it kind of IS and IS NOT a language. Oh it tells a computer how to load and reload a page, but it's more like telling your computer to break, table and center text\images as opposed to pushing a button in a word pad or other program. but if you van basically master basic HTML you can make quick and simple websites for people to use and visit. coupes.
I know HTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, ASP (Jscript), SQL, ActionScript (Flash's language), Lingo (Director's language), Lingo 3D and Havock (3D physics). Learning new languages is very easy once you know the concepts of programming. I'd like to learn PHP in the near future, but school is taking all of my time at the moment. ET Warrior
I know Visual Basic and C++. Not too awesome with Visual basic, but i'm pretty alright with C++. I've made a couple of silly little programs that don't do anything cool, but I made em!!!!
Joetheeskimo
I rarely use Dreamweaver, too, Sam. I enjoy making HTML; it looks more professional than drag-and-drop sorta editors. And I didn't mean CSS is needed, but I mean that HTML is pretty much nothing without it. The main reason I want to learn PHP (I'm about 3/4 through the book, btw) is to make mods for phpBB2. Oh, and a question to anyone: what type of language do I have to learn to write scripts for JKII?
Samuel Dravis
Its just some console commands strung together. If you want to make a script that lunges you would type: bind x "+movedown; +forward; +attack; +moveup;" Into the console. Hope that helps. Troopr-Undr-Fir
I know and once mastered Java and C++, but I really have no use for them now. So when I'm bored I use HTML to help out my friends Weight lifting website. But I mean HTML is like a bike, you never forget how to use it

Yeah I've made maths programs on my graphical calculator (TI-83 plus). I did one for Sequences (Arithmetic and Geometric), Calculus and Integration and Motion (for Physics). I've made more but these are just examples.
