lllKyNeSlll Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 Take a look at this demo And tell me if you think this is possible, or did the guy change speed settings http://www.geocities.com/lllKyNeSlll/strafejumpgod.zip unzip put this game demo in /base/demos/ it requires version 1.01
Amidala from Chop Shop Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 The loading screen says CHEATS ARE ENABLED so it is likely he altered the server settings beyond what is normally possible when cheats are off.
Rumor Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 what does he do (not at home so i can't watch it)
Amidala from Chop Shop Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 He has speed on and kind of strafejumps going mostly backwards for long distances on mp/ctf4 Coruscant Streets. Hard to tell because it's all first-person viewpoint. Cheats are enabled and it looks like he is alone on the server, so probably someone fooling around with server settings.
lllKyNeSlll Posted December 21, 2003 Author Posted December 21, 2003 well I don't think he used cheats cheats, the only thing i could imagine him doing is g_speed command which that is the command i'm suspicious about
Vulkan_HFB Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 g_speed would have affected everyone playing, not just him. When you join a cheat enabled server, don't be surprised to see people doing odd stuff. I can't view the demo at the moment, but it may be possible that particular player is using a custom saber that increases speed...
Rumor Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 start the demo then exit then change cg_firstperson to 0 then restart the demo
Bilbo Skywalker Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 you can change cg_thirdperson 1 during the demo now in version 1.01 anyhoo, who was it really? one of image or ap under alias? either he learned to strafe that section backwards, or most likely: he enabled the cheat cg_thirdpersonangle 180 (sets the camera in front of you) , used a config to reverse his keys so he could strafe jump normally, but when we play it back through demo it looks like he's going backwards.
Crow_Nest Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 Is your link broken? I get a page not found
Sam Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 copy and paste the link in the address bar. it doesn't look like he is cheating just good at it.
lllKyNeSlll Posted December 21, 2003 Author Posted December 21, 2003 THe player is hoodwinker_aP but he told me beforehand he was going to do the ultimate trick jump of jk3 backwards("the dm6 jump of jk3"). Meta-image does it frontwards but this guy does it backwards. I suspect g_speed but he walks at a normal speed. But even if he did use 180 camera angle he would have still had to do it backwards because he does it front and back.

Ask hood how he did it backwards on that 28k connection of his. I'm wondering too. Heh.
