"Yes, I can explain," Nom snapped. "After following Greer for a while, Tarila went into the ventillation system above Greer's room. She made a careless mistake and was found and captured. I went in to get her and found that they had hurt her. I knocked them out and brought Tarila with me back to our ship. There was no sign of Greer."

Tarila motioned that she had found the origin of the signal and took off running to one of their shuttles. Nom raced after her and stopped her. He motioned that they had better take the ship to destroy wherever the signal was coming from. She nodded and Nom waited for a response to his reply.

Rwos: Uplink? What sort of uplink? You weren't able to stop the self-destruction?

That's odd...I just told Deac I could use my teleporter to get us out of here, and now he seems to have forgotten...and what was he saying about infiltrating a ship?

Nom's eyes widened. "What are you talking about? My sister is recovered now, but she is here with me. I don't understand your meaning."

Tarila grabbed the comlink. "As for following Greer near the docks, when was that? Wasn't that a few days ago? After following him to the air taxi, I traced him to where he was staying. The next day, Nom went to look around and found the ventillation system. He kept poking around for another couple of days before returning to get me. Then, he boosted me into the ventillation system and I settled in to wait for the right moment.

"I thought I'd have to wait for the right moment when Greer said he was going out, so I dropped into a relaxed position, but they heard me. I thought I'd be okay, but one of them started to open the vent I'd been looking out of. I lunged out, but nobody was inside my reach. I ran for Greer, who had just walked out the door, but one of them hit me with a wrench. The other had a pole and I grabbed it, but, if you must know, I'm fairly light. He was able to swing me into a wall and capture me. The rest happened as Nom said. We have been in our ship ever since."

"Is there a reason you should doubt this story?" Nom demanded, taking the comlink back from Tarila.

Phobos: We need to get off planet before the place blows apart.

Damn it Norl, you won't fool him for long, he's already onto. And stop access memories of my daughter, you pervert.

"Perhaps if you had come to see us rather than send an intermediary, we would not be tracking the signal," Nom retorted. "We like to know exactly who we are working for and where they are working from. I had every intention of tracking your signal when you contacted us."

Tarila took the comlink. "Anyone who knows anything about us should have known that we prefer meeting face to face with our employer. If that isn't possible, we track our employer until we know who he is and where to find him."

"Satisfied?" Nom demanded, once again in control of the comlink.

*Rwos raises his brow*

Definitely something wrong here. I can't recall Deac ever using my full name speaking to me.

Rwos: Deac, I think the link you made to the systems here has damaged your circuits in some way. You said you had to make a link to the server...what happened when you did that? Do you remember?

*Phobos begins moving off*

Phobos: I just had to download some control software. I'll delete it when I get back to the ship, it will require me to go to sleep while my systems do something like that.

Well, Starkiller, you can't bother me much longer

Rwos! If you're able to hear me, please, hit me with an Ion blast or something! Shut it down!

Rwos: Hm. I see. Well, we have only five minutes, let's go.

Five minutes to figure this out...

Download some "control software"? Ignoring the fact that none of that explanation made sense...

What was that Norl said?

"Guess I'm trapped here now as well. No matter. I'll be back. There is another way out of here besides your skull, Lokpihet."

Rwos: *purposefully* Yes, we'd better get moving, Deac. In fact, I think we've already wasted too much time...here, let's use my teleporter. I can use it to get directly to our crafts.

I don't know what's happened to you, Deac, but I know one way of finding out.

"Ah!" Nom said grandly. "So you have learned something about doing business with us. I suppose you have every reason to keep your trust to yourself."

"All the same," Tarila added, "it's not like we actually pinpointed you. I'd be willing to bet a lot that we've located a false signal. I'm right, aren't I?"

"Let's get down to business now," Nom said. "We've decided that we can't trust you. We want some of the money in advance. When we have it, we'll continue. For your sake, you'd better hope they don't capture Tarila or I. We are very aggressive about protecting each other, as I'm sure you know. Don't test us. If we can't have some of our pay in advance, we won't do this job for you."

Nom paused for a few seconds to let his words sink in. "Got it?"
