02173 Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 Somehow, The MI series seems unrealistic. Although the fact that it is kind of fantasy, I still think some realistic features should be brought under consideration in the making of MI5. I mean, paddeling in a wooden log on lava....yeah right, very realistic
Thrik Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 Realism has never been a particularly strong element of Monkey Island - in fact, often they mock realism. I mean seriously, coffee machines? Huge neon lights? Dude. But then, I do think EMI went a little far with the whole unrealism thing ... among other things.
James Isaac Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 I don't think the unrealistic side matters. i think it adds a nice touch
Jedi-Monkey Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 Maybe it wasnt wood. Maybe they modified the boats for safety.
Brushguy Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 Since when have Lucasarts games been "realistic?" It's always been cartoon fantasy with them, which by the way, I don't have a problem with. It sets them apart as unique and fun from the all-too-serious-and-formal Sierra...

Mr Flibble Posted February 28, 2004 Posted February 28, 2004 Quote Originally posted by 02173 Somehow, The MI series seems unrealistic. Well done detective. Games are an escape from the drudgery of work and family. I know you're only saying, but would you really prefer to have Guybrush apply for a TV licence, then go down the pub? I wouldn't. Besides, its funny! {Sing along!} #Ohhhhhh, This lava's hotter Than a flame broiled otter and my shoes are slowly melting to the fiber-glass floor# WAIT! The log wasn't wood! T'was FiberGlass! Hooraya!!
Skinkie Posted February 28, 2004 Posted February 28, 2004 If it was realistic you would propel Guybrush through the office as he tried to meet his report deadlines in time. Contains exciting events as waiting for the copy machine, studying logistics, and math. Wouldn't that be a fun game?
