CD Copy Control technology is a farce

So long as the recording industry believes me ripping my own CD's is marginal, and borrowing a friend's CD to rip is 'suspect' ... and as long as downloaders see no issue with building a 1000-CD library for $0 ... we will have these problems.

Unfortunate but true :(

Oh, and corporate greed. Don't forget to give it a big round of applause.;)

I agree *ONLY* to the extent that the RIAA and record industry are not just trying to perform legitimate protection of their IP rights, but also to roll back fair use.

I would tend to agree, except for the fact that I care nothing for their "rights". Now if we are going to talk about paying the artists? Sure. I'm game, I don't want to hurt their wallets. But as I've pointed out to you before, the RIAA have made plenty of dollars despite the "Napster generation".

Most of the money artists (at least small time artists) make are through their tours, and a fraction of that is seen, by the time big corporate record man is done getting his beak wet. So...yeah...world smallest violin, and all that jazz.

No, no you aren't.

**** big wigs and all of them companies. Seriously, I'll not pay $15 for a CD if I only like 2 tracks on it. Thats why I download them 2 songs. I know it screws the band a bit, but I also spent $20 on the DVD so I think I earned them 2 songs.

I did not name the band for...reasons.

Okay, its KoRn, but I own all the CD's cept Life is Peachy cuz I only like ADIDAS on it. And I'll still end up getting the damned CD.

first off, I do buy cd's.

but how do they lose money when you don't purchase the cd? I mean isn't it the same as if you didn't buy the cd, AND didn't download? I mean they still don't get money from you the consumer.

I just spent the last remaining amounts of money I had on the Miles Davis and Jimi Hendrix collection. That's music man, all the songs are good, you love them all and you don't mind paying for them all. But when you have these "uber-hip" doing it for the money "artists" I find it should lose creative rights.

Once and artform becomes an industry it should lose it's ability to claim creative rights. Art is about expression not monetary rewards, those are just supposed to be extra. Industry is about profit and making an extra buck for some bullsh*t "extra" feature.
