Please change to a reliable add server, if we have to look at these useless things in the first place. Many of my pm have not been sent due to this. mgnails Posted June 27, 2004 Share Posted June 27, 2004 Its not just the user CP but it seems most of the timeon on LF i get a statusbar saying how its loading that gorilla ads crap. It never opens a site though so I assume its downloading some adware or spyware to my computer. Or at least trying. I have a pretty good firewall so nothing much really gets in here. It self-installs on your comp and takes a spy-ware remover and an anti-virus to get rid of. Meanwhile it downloads lots and lots of other spy-ware and ad-ware AFTER installing a self-proclaimed spy-ware remover called "Virtual Bouncer" that every time you boot up informs you that it's found a parasite and asks if you would like to remove it. Clicking "No" about 5-6 times will eventually get rid of it. For now. If you click "Yes" you're taken to a registration form where they want you to pay for it to remove phony viruses and ad-ware... voila, welcome to the world of serious scams. Mac, Linux and other non-Windows operating systems are immune from this attack. (ariticle from Washington Post) I use Netscape 7.1 and am still plagued by ads.gorillanation.com even with Zone Alarm Pro. For kicks, I downloaded Firefox, which has the same Mozilla core and still had problems. I also hereby forbid further use of the word huggles anywhere on this forum. Those of you who aren't getting the message but have javascript enabled are receiving the ads and are getting tracked by gorillanation.
