bneezy
(I was not aware Orson had ripped the E-11 or Boba's helm) In Orsans defense, he didn't get the helmet from the game. I looked at the one from the game and his in gmax, they're not even close. The textures are also different. He may have converted another JA mod though. Look at his and another. His is the one in front by the way. By the look of his reskins, he's a pretty talented guy, he might have just made his the old fashioned way. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Father and son reunion: Both models are from the game but Jango's texture is by António "BloodRiot" Perestrelo and Tim "Absath" Buckley. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just the "Father": Model by Michael "sithlord-II" Frost and Adam "Cheshire" Lee Texture by Arco Ferguson ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It looks like I can only show you the way as far as the weapons from the game, Mr. 2000. With the above tools and Cchargin's tutorial, you can use your favorite mods in two games (the game of origin and KotOR.) If you want to know how to do this with games you already own for your own personal use, I can show you how. But remember, if you can't figure it out yourself, you are of below average intelligence according to some. Although medals are in order to those who can, I believe. Shagster
Well it looks like I have below level intelligence then, lol. They're KotOR purists, appearantly. They fear influence from outsiders will corrupt their way of life.

90SK
Touching on the whole legal subject; where is it writen that porting things from JA into KotOR is illegal? Supposedly porting things from KotOR to JA is illegal, but I'm not so sure its the other way around, is it? I suppose all that would be it the JA legal papers. It may not be written down anywhere but the models and textures are owned by Raven software , putting them in to KOTOR without Raven Softwares permission is what the problem is , if beezy or someone else makes their own models from scratch (even if they are nearly the same as Ravens models) he can quite easily go ahead and import them in to KOTOR without any problems. Same with the Raven model someone created for use withen JA. That was made from scratch and texture by them to be similar to the KOTOR version. Over at Lancers Ractor (a Freelancer modding site) there was a 300 post long thread about people using other peoples models and textures without getting permisison , without pointing out who made the items , taking credit for doing all the work , came about because someone had taken models that someone had made for a mod of another game , that had been converted to FL model type and given guns etc. but never asked the person who the models belonged to. This person then found out their models were being used in a mod they never gave their permission to use. They were happy for mod A to use them becuase mod A asked permission and got it. Mod B came along , saw the models , decided to use them , and went ahead and did so and put in the readme "all my work" about everyhing in the mod. Needless to say the original model maker was slightly .. peeved off. Mod B was removed from the website and it took several days before things were cool enough before the modeller would change his mind about poeple using his models ever again, including the poeple who had already gotten permission to use them. Effectively its like this : If person A wants to include person Bs work in a mod they need person Bs permission to do so. I and many others gave permission to T7nowhere to complie the mods he did so in his complimation mod. I haven given permission for others to make a mod and use them , I have said "contact me at *my email addy* or at Holowen labs under the name Jackel if you want to use them to ask my permission". If someone other then t7 asks me about them im more then willing to look in to letting them use them. However i would want my name in the credits indicating what uti's were mine , what skins were mine , something saying contact me if anyone else wanted to use them etc. ACK! long post .. hee sorry about that. bneezy
True. I only got excited about converting the stuff for KotOR because I was so amazed at what people were doing. A lot of talented modelers and graphic artists love to play videogames on their free time. It's been my mission lately to contact as many of the authors of my favorite JO and JA mods to convert their stuff for KotOR or to let us do it for them. Some of this stuff just blows me away. Although, I don't see a problem using it for my OWN enjoyment and posting some cool screens. I wouldn't even bother releasing them even if we had permission. I'd like to see them in the hands of truly creative people who would make some awsome "extra ending and side quest" type mods.
Glamador
you of course, take the superd definition remodels some ppl have done for JA, like the battle droid rifle or some of the better pistol models from JO...but im afraid id like to "bend the rules" a bit on the subject of the heavy repeater b/c it really kicks ass...and btw, since mod tools have been legally released for JA/JO it is legal to take the models and MODIFY them (even ever so slightly, as long as something has been done that can be proven), and it can be called a mod, this mod is free to the public and should be useable in KotOR without issues...of course KotOR modding is illegal anyway. bneezy
Hmmm.... By the way, didn't everyone already know about this before they got all pissy about the models?
90SK
wait, so you could convert someones model with thier permission and it would be legal? I guess that makes sense. Cool!
bneezy
That seems right to me since all KotOR mods are illegal anyway. ALL OF THEM!

ALL OF THEM! i wouldn't say that too quickly. remember, whenever you install any type of software on your computer, there is usually an end user licence agreement (the eula) that you must accept in order to even install the software. you can read kotor's eula in the back of the manual. if it doesn't say anything about modding kotor, then its partially legal since you didn't agree to not mod the game. however, i'm not an expert on copyright laws, so i can't offer any assistance there. bneezy
Outstanding! Legal references. I'm not paying. lol, I'd love to see you arguing as a child. "You're invading my privacy! Get out of my room!" "Well, actually you're still a minor, living rent free in OUR house. Until you are 18, said minor will be henceforth referred to as "Glamador", you will have only the privacy set forth by statue 17-A according to Johnson vs The People." Darth333
I will not give you any legal advice (weekend is too short and I don't get paid) but I will give you a moderator advice: get back on topic. Legality of mods has been discussed in the past, just use the search function on thi forum. Concerning the policy of this forum, Prime already gave you the guidelines in this very same thread. Other thing: I will ask you to stop attacking other modders in this forum through semi-hidden meanings (anyone who reads this thread can understand what I mean). Respect is a primary rule on this forum. Everyone has the right to disagree with an opinion and nothing justifies to constantly mock someone. This is a warning. Glamador
hey bneezy have u been spying on me? i just want to rationalize the legality b/c i want to see this mod finished...its a really cool idea and i think the heavy repeater works incredibly well in this game as a heavy-weapon classed 12-17 damage, range 32 meter weapon... jedi_5002
Do you have any more screenshots of the DL-44 (textured). I would also love to have the model and texture of the gun itself. I am just too lazy to convert it myself (that said I am trying to start to do stuff about that sort of stuff (i.e. modeling) This makes less sense than what I had there previously. Oh, well if you get what I am trying to say KUDOS to you). But seriously.... Can I have some more screenies of the DL-44 (textured) and *crosses fingures* the model and texture of the gun? (I can create my own uti file.) Out of all the guns pictured, it is the one I REALLY want.

jedi_5002
Sweet. I must now do this myself (convert the DL-44 for my personal use (as well as other weapons), as I suck at modeling currently).
