If this peaks your intrest and would like to include it or work on it together that would be awsome.

hmmmmm, this is interesting, you two (darkkender and Jarrad_111 could do a co-op mod) i chose other, becoz me thinks:

NAR SHARDDA

would be perfect for the mod proposed by darkkender, and it would also be a good chance for Jarrad_111 to prove his / her skills, i mean this in the most kindest manner.

Good Luck to BOTH of you

hmmmm.....

maybe, maybe but to tell you the truth I am a beginner and i would love to make this mod. However I was hoping that this could be a whole Holowan project and get a alot of people involved something of this scale will take ages.

As I will need all the help I can get although I have been sent the threads necessary...

Jarrad_111,

I have recieved your PM's but my response is too big for a PM, and others might also be interested, so here I go. With what you said above;

However I was hoping that this could be a whole Holowan project and get a alot of people involved something of this scale will take ages.

I don't mean to be discouraging, but from what I can recall, rarely does a large group project really get far with a mod, or even get one released. Group projects that tend to succeed are usually smaller, like 2-4 modders, and not really large scale ones (like Maverick187 and Myself made the Lightsaber Pack, Achilles and T7's Force Pike, and most recently Prime, Bneezy, and Darth333's Stormtrooper Mod)

but to tell you the truth I am a beginner and i would love to make this mod.

I know you really, really want to get a new KOTOR planet off the ground, but you really need to make some simpler mods before you jump in and attempt this project, like some new items fully scripted for placement into the game, a recruit mod of some sort, a new area/arena/shop mod (this is a must, as a small scale new area(s) will help you understand what the bigger areas are going to entail), this new area scripted into the game of course, you don't even have to release them if you don't want to, these are just to help build the skills necissary to do the planet, and can be quite fun to do too. ;)

Hence, this is why I did Weebul & Utiinii's Imporium, I did it with a simple question in my head "Can I do this?," when I found the answer to be yes, only then did I proceed on to something larger. (I am also very happy that people took to it like they did.) :D

After you do a new area/arena/shop mod and have become familiar with clearing out and repopulating a game area, placing placeables, area waypoints, connecting modules, scripting, dialogues, and conditional dialogues, only then should you attempt a new planet. It is a massive and time-consuming thing, making it was not so much hard as it was really tedious. ORD Mandell is only 5 areas and it took 1+ months to do counting the prep work (Warping around scouting levels to use that look somewhat right together, and writing the planets quests and NPC's dialogues out), and the actual modding work, at around 2-4 hours a day, to get it where it was.

For Example: Almost every placeable and NPC you see in the ORD Mandell mod, including most of those metalboxes and plastic cylenders, kiosks, benches, fire pits, swoops, etc., had to be placed where they are by first standing there with my PC and using the 'whereami' cheat code, then you have to write down the coordinates, there are around +/- 100 placeables and NPC's in the main storage caverns alone, yes my fingers almost fell off! Like with this post! :D

With some NPC's and placeables you also have to worry about the orientation of them (Can't have guards facing the wrong way can we?), so things look right, trust me you will start to hate yourself at times. :D

If you decide to proceed be sure to remember when drawing out the outline for your planet, try to think of and build it layered like a cake, and try to include only the basic layers (Game Areas) you are going to need. And put as much in writing as possible before you start.

--------------------------------------------------

Here are a few things of note (Highly Abridged) that I did, and problems I had to solve, when I was constructing ORD Mandell;

With ORD Mandell once I got the 5 areas (Originally 8 Areas) I was going to need all sorted out and fully scripted (It changed 5+ times during the Mods creation) what I wanted to happen on the world only then did I began the actual modding.

I started with the landing area (Korriban), placeables and then populated it, it took days to get the NPC's oriented correctly, then do the dialogues for all but the quest NPC's, I needed 2 Global Numbers for the quests on my planet to use, I used 2 from Taris, and I had to have them set to a 1 before you entered the planet, so I had to do so with a script on the first door.

Then I did the Apartment area, the placeables and then populated it, then do the dialogues for all NPC's, Put in the evil freighter crew and the conditional dialogue for the Captain last. Then I went back to the landing area and built Warren's dialogue as I had written it out to be. I then fully tested his conditional dialogue and quest as well as Captain Jax's dialogue and hostile script and on death script, once sucsessful I was done with the Apartments and Warren's quest.

Then I had to do the outside level, I had to reuse the Korriban one again because the previous 3 areas I tried out didn't feel right, or I was wondering what I was smoking!!!:wornout: To think that a particular area I chose would work in connecting the areas in the first place. Though there were a few hurdles to overcome (All done because of previous expirience). This area was the easiest to do.

Then on to the Main Storage Caverns, like the landing area this took a lot of time, memory and patience. It quickly became a horror of placeables, until I cut back on how many I put in the level. (Originally it was supposed to be full of stuff) I added the NPC's and their dialogues, and then had a problem, I had to figure a way to block off the areas I didn't want you to go until, you got the Main quest, I had to add more placeables that could be removed with a script in the Leutanants dialogue once you got the quest, ORD Mandell was almost scrapped because of this :headbump (Only through the expirience I had with my previous mods was I able to figure out the way I used to fix the problem). Then I had to overcome another hurdle, the back of the cave, thankfully Bioware had some scripted area trigger that used a dialogue at the back of the cave so with some simple manipulation it made the area take you to the Mandalorian cave like it does (Again previous expirience saved the day).

Lastly was the Mandalorian Raider cave, while it did not take long to do after the other levels, it still had to serve its purpose, and again the placeables, and NPC's had to look right. Once done then I went back to the landing area and built Major Stygian's dialogue as I had written it out to be. I then fully tested his conditional dialogue and quest, along with the Leutenants in the Storage Caverns, once sucsessful I was done with the planet.

I had intended 3 other quests, that I never got to (Though I might later on), the Mechanics, the Janitors, and the Shady Rodians, because of time constraints, and biteing off more than I could chew, and I know you will probably have to scrap some things with your planet too.

--------------------------------------------------

As you can see what you are intending to make is not a modding walk-in-the-park, it definately requires previous KOTOR modding skills, dedication to your original planet idea, large amounts of problem-solving, as some things will not go as you first intend them to and you will have to figure another way to do it, and lastly a lot, and I mean a lot of free time to do.

Jarrad_111, my intention with all this is not to discourage you in any way, quite the opposite, I said all of this because I definately want you to succeed in your modding endevour. And you will definately need some previous specific KOTOR Modding expirience to do so. :)

Like always, this is all just my 2 cents and, in some way, I hope all this helps! :D

A reskinned Tairs would be very good for Nar Shaada, and the lower city could be full of marauding gangsters and criminals etc. :D

And the upper city would be full of rich gangsters with little feathers on there golden vibroblade handles

Off topic... wouldn't be extremely cool (yet odd and unexplainable) to have a HUTT as your player model.

Doing a Force Jump across the plains of Dantooine as a friggin Hutt... that's enough for me to cry in delight.

I voted for Twilek world.

Nar Shadaa is a pretty good idea, actually. You could just use the Taris Sewer model, with the Taris lower city bar/ apartments and such. Maybe even a bit of the starforge for good mesure.

that would work better into the game, but that would take longer than both Gsccc's after-games, and Jarrad_111 is only starting....i think, but, he did say he'd like to see the majority of Holowan to help in completing this mod, I Believe that we should take one step at a time, sweet idea, maybe some ppl in holowan could undertake this Grueling task. you've also got to remember that the person / people will have to get EVERY DETAIL, so they'd have to check every detail, and that would take longer than the actual mod :D

gr8 idea though :p

god no,

i think that Jarrad_111 is hoping for a Holowan co-op mod where everyone helps, but to do your idea would take a conciderable amount of time to complete, although you idea is more apealing everytime i read it, i think ppl would get annoyed with it, its not only creating a new planet, its bucket loads of scripts, the creation of new items, ppl, addaption to Canderous' past that he tells us,

it would take a VERY long time and i dont think Jarrad_111 was inteneding on that, i think he wanted to start simple, i agree to see your idea work would be sweet, but its a fact of time, commitment.

i hope i didnt offend you in either of my posts

Yes MattColejk is right!

I am currently begining work on a cantina which can be found under the NEW IDEA! thread of mine / poll

I have an idea having seen what amazing modders have done and I shall create several more areas before tackling a planet

By the way it seems the winner is Nal Hutta
