Xavier2
I'm very excited about this. OK. Any of you familiar with the New Jedi robe model in Xavier2 WIP knows what i'm talking about. But those of you who haven't seen it yet. Here goes a pick Yeap:D That's right a new Jedi robe model...With a sash!!! I believe Achiles will like to hear it. I have succesfully edited 3 body models before, but thanks to a new technique, aka the Box Man process, developed during long discussions between [sTGN]Locutus, bneezy and myself, along with several tips and help from svosh. We are now able to merge diferent body meshes. Right now you can find other body models currently on the works on Xavier2 WIP. See ya. :) PS. Maybe this belongs to that thread, but i had to discuss the modeling process somewhere else.

Prime
Wow, that looks great! So what do you want me to do with the new robe textures? Personally, I think this model looks much more accurate than the model I am currently skinning for. IMO it might be worth getting this model to the point where you are happy with it (looks great right now), and then I can skin for that one. What do you think, Xavier2? Hopefully, Xavier2 decided to model the female robes as well so that Bastila and Juhani (as well as the female PC's) are not left out in the rain. If so, I hope that you're willing to skin those as well Prime.

You won't have that much work reskinning them Prime. I'm trying to get an unused place on the texture map so it can make your work easy. I don't know if everybody will like to have this instead of the other. There are still some clipping issues. It doesn't moves along the legs but rather the torso. The sash pretty much works like the belt on Revan's cutscene robe as it's extracted from that model. It means it's not as flexible as i would want it. But it's fine by me anyway.. Let me know. EDIT: Oh and that seam on the arm is not fixable unfortunatelly. It seems i was right about it being a conversion problem. I think Mdlops does not support the use of smooth groups, as this is the effect applied over that model area.

I usually find clipping issues fairly distracting, and if it is bad I'd prefer to go with the older models. If you like, you can send me the model and I'll give it a try and then give you my opinion. In the end it is up to you though.
Mav
That looks great Xavier2 although if there is major clipping issues then I'd ratheruse the other one, but that is just me.

Ok lets talk about it. you know though that you can use this thread http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=134510 to talk about KotOR modeling. You are free to add any modeling tips that you think will be usefull and it keeps the discussion centralized to one thread.

Younglings...Younglings:D A sashed jedi robel to look you will! humm: The texture is Prime's Obi-Wan robe and the head is Obi-Wan's from Orsan. I tested the model in most animations and there is only one cliping issue i noticed. There is one anim while runing where the character spreads the legs. In this particular move the back of the skirt clips with the right sash and with the front of the skirt. It is happening because: 1. The sash uses the animations of the legs and pelvis. So it must follow them. Sorry we can't make custom anim yet; 2. The front of the skirt is closed to emulate the movie one and the sash is placed over it. If you ask me. I think it's hardly noticeable and it works allright with all combat moves as you can see by the pic. To all the comunity: This is a team achievement. Without [sTGN]Locutus i couldn't have finished it. As usual, my statement is, COLABORATIVE WORK IMPROVES THE QUALITY AND SAVES TIME!!! To Prime: I'll send those to you later. The sash uses the same place in your texture where you have drawed a sash. So i hope it won't be that troublesome to you. To Achiles: I'm gonna work on the female versions after i finish some other stuff for the team. Now, i'm gonna rest a bit and hang out with my girlfriend, before she starts to hate Star Wars:D more... :D Thanks for the positive response on our work. Box Man is just a nickname. I'll either include the detailed process on the read me or make a step by step in svosh's thread as soon as i have the time. Prime
I've taken a stab at fixing up the robe texture for the new model. IMO the model is definitely superior to the one that was working on previously. I think I've got the texture as good as I can get it. Unfortunately, the portion of the texture that covers the new tabards is extremely stretched. This makes adding small details almost impossible. As a result, I haven't added some things I had originally planned on. Also, some of the texture mapped into the groin area also maps onto part of the hand. I'm going to try and improve this part a bit, but I think the problem will still be there. Anyway, here are some screenshots of the new texture with the improved model... Xavier2, if you are happy with the skin, I'll starting doing the different variations.
