A watermark is a little logo or a name on top of the video. It is normally transcuscent (sp?) and is sometimes a hindrance. It's just annoying when you see that watermark and show that to your friends. Just, annoying.

I hear Dr. Divx can do it. I don't know if it leaves a watermark or not.

You may have to go through this process though:

1) Convert MOV to MPEG using TMpgEnc Express v3.0 at max H&V res

2) Convert MPEG using Dr. Divx

Or instead of using Dr. Divx, use Virtual Dub using a 3 pass encoding of MPEG to DivX AVI for beter results

Heck, poke around just in TMpgEnc Express. I bet it can do it all by it's lonesome.

He may need .avi for video editing. Most video editing software do not support .mov files.

foiund some quotes

I used to use a program called RAD video tools for this. Google for it.

(some other said he thought it was spyware)

I have found an older program called Quicktime Pro 61, this will export Mov files to AVI or MPEG.

here is a 30 day trial of a convertor. Not sure about watermark, but trial is better than demo.

I have tmpgenc plus, but hopefully express is capable of doing this.

NB. You may need to download the plug in that will allow you to encode .mov within Tmpgenc
