i'm so confused...

hey tere, if you could help me out, somebody, ANYBODY!!

 

I am trying to do a really simple mod: i want to get rid of that little swig of hair on carth's head... the one that sticks out. i tried just deleting the hair in the .tga, but it just came out white!

 

anybody have any knowledge of how to fix this dilemma? it would me much appreciated. that piece of hair is starting to bug me.

The tga is just a skin for the 3D model. That's why it gets white. ithout the skin the hair is just a 3D mesh.

 

There is a way to make that piece of skin invisible, but it will only work if you are using a non shining armor (there is a reason for that, but it is a looong explanation:D).

 

Ok. Here it is. Open the tga for Carth's head, find the area where is that swig and mark it. Now you will have to create an Alpha Channel and paint the swig area black. You see Alpha Chanels add levels of transparency to a skin. White colored areas in Alpha Channel means no transparency and black areas means full transparency. Any tones of gray means...correspondent tones of transparency:p

 

But, as i said if you are using a shining armor instead of a transparent swif you will get a shining one.:D

 

I know it is not much of a help, but i think that better than this is not possible, as far as i know.:)

I tried that to the asian PC with a swig. The .txi does not work properly because, apparently, the game looks first for whats in envmap columm in app.2da.:( and apllies it not only to the body, but to the head as well.:rolleyes:

whats a swig?

 

Of course if envmap is not set to defualt it applies to the entire npc. Nothing that can be done abot that.

Well, down here in the South (yeehaw) we like to call it a "cow-lick" ;) I think it's the 'fussy' random hair strands that Carth has. Guess that's why he's always in a sour mood (bad hair day).

 

Carth is such a prissy little girl :rolleyes:

 

ps. the 'other' definition of 'swig' in the South usually involves an alcoholic beverage of the more...ahem... 'potent' varieties (rhymes with turpentine, and tastes about the same) I have some 'back-woodsy' relatives that ....well..er... brew their own...

Wow ya know moonshiners eh chainz. You wouldn't be able to hook a fellow modder up would you.:D (Yes I can by my own swill but moonshine well thats another story.)

i was using 'swig' as a reference to carth's girlyhair flap thing, on the front of his head. poor choice of words i suppose. yeah, it's a cowlick.

 

well, thanks for explaining how it can't be done. now i can stop tying and get back to making carth the clown.
