Darth Eggplant
in Canada we celebrate Thanksgiving on Collumbus day. because go back to circa oct 11th 1492 all across NA Native Americans are waking up, thinking, "yes another beautiful day in paradise. then we come to oct 12th 1492. I mean nothing says thanks to me like the complete wholesale genocide of multiple races\species\and cultures like a wobbly cylindrical can of cranberry. those big giant ballon things are neat though. TK-8252
Dinner at my house was good. First I ate a salad, then corn on the cob, turkey, gravy, stuffing, potatoes, buscuits, and a Pepsi. Good eatin'!

Troopr-Undr-Fir
Hell yes! I heart Thanksgiving... I've been deep frying a turkey for my family for about 4 years now. Best way to eat it in my opinion. Yes, it's one of those times of year that makes me angry about things in the past. But I still try to calm myself and enjoy my family. Spider AL
I object to holidays in general. (humbug) They are merely corporate tools designed to give the little people (us) the illusion of quality of life for a few days per year.

IG-64
WTF is up with you people? What's wrong with Christmas? Do you just hate all things good and pure? And what did America do to Christmas? We just celebrated it. Will you not be happy till America is in another universe? And what's wrong with buying things? So corporate companies get money, it makes people happy. Is the happiness irrelevant because a company got money or something? I couldn't live like you people, hating everything, I don't know how you live like that, wihtout holidays, without happiness. Spider AL
What's wrong with Christmas? Do you just hate all things good and pure? And what did America do to Christmas?Lolz, good and pure. America helped greatly to commercialize Christmas. I think that's what people don't like, these days. Will you not be happy till America is in another universe?Another planet would do. I for one like... at least several Americans. I just dislike the American culture of materialism and isolationism. Not the people themselves. Well, not ALL the people. And what's wrong with buying things? So corporate companies get money, it makes people happy. Is the happiness irrelevant because a company got money or something?Because they should be able to obtain that happiness AT A LOWER COST. The corporations you're defending overcharge massively to support their profit margin, which does NOT go towards paying workers more, but paying BOSSES more. I couldn't live like you people, hating everything, I don't know how you live like that, wihtout holidays, without happiness.I don't know about the other guys here, but I'm perfectly happy without all the commercial, uber-capitalist saccharine trappings of "holidays". I don't hate everything by any stretch of the imagination, and I'm happier hunting for bargains and creating my own belongings than I would be if I were simply shelling out to feed corporate greed. And I save a wodge of moneys too. Wahoo!
IG-64
Ever heard of a sale? And how do you know if they overcharge? Have you ever been to America? It seemed liek when I went to London for a week, everything was more expensive there.
jon_hill987
Yep, the UK is just bout the most expensive place to get anything. You can get anything and everything cheaper abroad.
Spider AL
Ever heard of a sale?I did SAY I enjoyed bargain hunting, didn't I. And how do you know if they overcharge?Because I worked in sales for a time, once. Every modern retailer overcharges, because of the network of vampiric middlemen between craftsmen and equally evil corporate retailers that are all taking a bite out the consumer's neck in order to preserve their own greedy little profit margin. I've seen bosses overpay themselves by overcharging their customers, and not a penny has been made by those who worked in the sales department, nor by those who work in the stores. Even, or perhaps especially the craftsmen themselves, the SOURCE of the provender... earned almost as little out of the deals. Our modern, capitalist culture fosters corruption, greed and lack of personal skill. It is killing off original thought, and encouraging bland consumerism and ill-education among the masses. SIMPLY THROUGH ITS NATURE. Have you ever been to America? Please, don't remind me. It seemed liek when I went to London for a week, everything was more expensive there.London's a tourist trap, so things are a little pricey there, pricier than elsewhere in the UK. But America has its own extravagant areas. As for America being somehow less of a ripoff than the UK... the US is famous for corruption in both business and retail, and for underpaid workers now, isn't it. So are we. Hooray for us. Yep, the UK is just bout the most expensive place to get anything. That's not true. I've been to some BLOODY expensive places. Made London seem like a paradise. jon_hill987
Yes I think we are all missing the point of this thread: Good meals are hard to come by in uni halls. anything that brings good food to students is no bad thing.
Spider AL
uh oh, Spiders rolled out the multi quote responses, Oh, teh powar. Muwahahr. my argument, for the record is i had a very nice meal, and would like to celebrate that holiday again on an annual basis Ah but what- apart from a corporate trap- is stopping you from celebrating it every day? I insist on eating good quality home-made food as often as possible. And I don't have to give thanks to anyone. LEET!
