toms
Hurrah, my nice shiny blue Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Extended edition arrived in the post this morning... it even made it through the hands of the postal service without being battered beyond recognition. In anticipation I already watched the extended Fellowship on saturday night, but then foolishly spent sunday night installing windows XP on my computer. So i now have a terrible decision to make: Do i watch the extended Two Towers tonight, and leave ROTK until tomorrow... or do i skip TT and watch ROTK tonight.... decisions decisions... weiderudare
Watch the Two Towers? even though it was easily Hollywood-ized and therefore sucked you need to watch em in the right order... I might watch ROTK tonight though, educating my stepmom in LOTR...(shes too lazy to read the books, so its mostly me saying:"This is so much better in the books")

jon_hill987
Meh, If they stuck to the book it would have made a rubbish film. i would watch the fellowship first, TT tomorrow and ROTK after that.

Don't worry about it. People will piss and moan about anything if you give them the opportunity. Some people just couldn't understand that there is absolutely NO way ANY company would okay a 6 + hour movie (which is what any of the LotR movies would have been had they remained totally faithful). It just can't happen.
The_One
You can't take a book and shoot it page by page - it simply does not work. Yeah, I agree, the films are not without their faults; but on the whole, they are brilliant, and manage to capture the spirit of Tolkien - which is no small feat. GothiX
I rather strongly disliked the movies. They completely ruined the way I looked at certain parts of the books for me, and well, that's something I don't think should've been.
ckcsaber
Screw this crap. I bought the blasted box set of the movies, and they release this **** on me.
Acrylic
Originally posted by ckcsaber Screw this crap. I bought the blasted box set of the movies, and they release this **** on me. Well, you do realize that the extended editions of the other two movies came out a while ago...
ckcsaber
No, I didn't realize that. I see the box set at best buy, think about how I enjoyed the films, buy it, and am screwed over because I didn't do my "research" on a flamin' dvd.

Thats true, I like the movies a whole lot, but the only thing I don't like in the TT is the way they painted Faramir.

ckcsaber
I'm pissed because I'm just finding out about these extended versions. I never would have bought this "normal" boxset if I had known there was an extended version coming out so soon. I feel jipped, ripped off, cheated. lukeiamyourdad
>_> Well it's your own fault for not researching...pretty much everyone knew about them...they didn't rip you off.
El Sitherino
Haven't we had threads in the past about the Extended Edition DVD's? I could've sworn we did. Maybe it was at echonet. *shrugs* At the local best buy when they released The Fellowship of The Ring extended edition they put out a HUGE sign saying that. ckcsaber
I'm an average buyer. I see something I want and can afford, I buy it. Fine, I made an impulsive purchase, but to have the COMPLETE EXTENDED TRILOGY released a week later galls me.

lukeiamyourdad
Yes they are but FotR and TTT have been released for a long time.
ckcsaber
Which is why I bought the box set. I saw all 3 together, and thought I'd get a deal. Little did i know that the unboxed versions were extended. And now all three extended versions are released, and I am pissed that I'm stuck with the regular versions. Christ, does that explanation suit you?
