work was alright....i'm getting too good at it. i went on fast mode...tomorrow i know i'm going to wake up and not be able to feel my fingers. =( i move these stupid boxes picking them up by the flaps, one in each hand. then i do that with like 100 skids....with like 40 boxes on each.

i acquired the Hed PE 'only in amerika' album....just heard them on the radio the otherday...if i had this blaring my parents would literally evict me. my dad would probably kill me first though since he HATES swearing.... XD

eh i saw some punk riding in the chick's car. i think he just needed a ride...but he better disappear or i will make him go away.

eh...got word i'll be needed to work sunday, which is double-time+overtime. which means it all goes to taxes probably...i'll try it. =\

A couple of tense meetings at work today. Still hashing out the pay structure for doing college events on the weekends. I'm not sure anything was really resolved.

Plus we found out that we are not getting the digital mixing board we keep putting in budget requests for year after year... stupid, short-sighted bean-counters! In fact, it doesn't look like we are even going to get to put our current board downstairs where it makes the most sense.

Instead, they're going to hire a bunch of acousticians to come and analyze the rooms. Sure... don't trust the word of the sound engineers who spend every freakin' day in the place to know what the hell they're talking about!!!

So instead of buying us the gear we want and putting it in the place we know it would make the most difference, they are going to pay some shmuck who's never been in the room a LOT of money to come in hear the same things we hear every day. Or not. Hopefully they'll recommend EXACTLY what we've been saying all along... but if not then we're totally ****ed, and the college will never take our word on ANYTHING ever again.

Snow, snow and more snow!!! I like winter, but this is really starting to try my patience.

I get a day off from work... but now I have to go out and shovel another damn foot of snow.

I've started referring to it by another 4-letter word, also starting with an "s".

Any guesses? :dozey:

Spent over an hour shoveling again. It was a thick, heavy wet slushy snow that kept sticking to the shovel.

This is getting tedious.

I squandered the rest of my day off from work by basically doing nothing worth chronicaling here.

A lot of daytime TV watching and dozing on the couch, interspersed with occasional magazine reading and internet surfing.

ah went and got my haircut today. shaved the sides and back...was planning to just get it shaved completely off, but meh, decided to keep my bangs so i do NOT look to the army standard. heh it looks alright with gel. everyone at work seemed to like it. :D

i'm looking foreward to thursday...which is my payday. $288....yay. i'm working til next sunday....since this sunday they're having us work 3-6... i found out that the place is transferring at the end of march.

Also discovered that employees....that aren't temps....get...ALOT more.....$12 an hour>$8 an hour. i might put in an application when we transfer....cause i need the benefits...but then...i'd probably have more responsibility..and that could suck cause i don't WANT to know how to fix the damn machines when they break down.

I'm thinking about getting a second job for a few months for some extra money so i can save up faster...might do that after i get my car repaired.

I've got some stuff planned out....gonna go for an eye exam and contacts, get a 6 month membership to the rec center, and save up for an M16.

My dad is best friends with a guy that is an ex-gunsmith, who works at a gunshop, so I'll probably get it from there. i did see an AR15 for $1600 there. I want the kind with the rear aperature or whatever it's called....more fun to practice with that than the scope. of course, i'll need to find a range or soemthing...can't just simply dawn my army uniform and kevlar and walk down the streets of lancaster with it, i'd get the fire department after me. (that's cause the police are too scared of guns around here)

Meetings at work. Seems like our salary struggle may be a little bit closer to being resolved. Looks like I'll be working more nights, occasional weekends, but far fewer days, for a pretty good raise in pay. Basically, I'll be working most of the shows, but not too much in the way of office work. Seeing as I'm not really a morning person, I guess I could live with that. There's still some details to hammer out, but everybody involved seemed satisfied.

They still insist that we are getting the new board, but the acoustitian is part of the deal to convince the Powers-That-Be that we really need it.

I had to hire a neighbor with some heavy equipment to remove some of the massive snowbank that had built up in front of my house. He's the same guy who works on my lawn all summer. He seemed pretty excited to have the job. I suspect there's limited work for a landscaper during weather like this.

I've had a sore throat all day. I hope I'm not getting sick.I don't feel ill otherwise. Time to double-up on the vitamin C in any case, just to be safe.

I need as much practice as I can get before I go back to the army, so i can easily get my marksmanship badge. Best to know how to fire it before going, last time i missed qualifying by ONE target. they went to re-fire me, and the m16 was ****ing jamming constantly. I want to qualify on my first go, so I don't have to put up with any bull****.

You also have the right to NOT buy a gun; or not to participate in the elections.

So, like, whatever...

Easiest day at work I've had for a while. The other engineer set up the band (Joe DeFrancesco, the jazz Hammond-organ player. with drums and guitar) so that they could play a clinic in the afternoon. After the clinic they were happy with the way things sounded, so they left until showtime. All I had to do is un-mute the board when they started to play. Piece of cake. Pretty good show, too.

I wish they could all be like that...

Taking the day off today, since I have to work tomorrow, and then I have a really busy week next week. I plan on going out to find those tubes I want. Wish me luck!

Actually, there is evidence that they may have intended that we all own and be drilled in the use of firearms. We are, after all, a country born by guerilla farmers and citizen soldiers.

They even went far enough to have the provision for private warships in the Constitution. Article I Section 8 says "To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on land and Water;" But that part was eventually deleted :(

Finally re-tubed all my amps. Went with all Groove Tubes. Cost me a pretty penny (there goes my whole State Tax Refund, at least) but Oh Boy!.. do they ever sound good!!!! And I shouldn't have to do it again any time soon.

Rectifier tubes were an issue: There was one particular rectifier tube for the Supro that wasn't available, so I'm currently using the old one. I also went with a solid-state replacement for the rectifier on the Princeton. I probably won't do it right away, but I'd like to find the real tube for it and place that in, and keep the solid-state unit for backup. I could always put the old one back in, but I have no idea how old it may be. But I'd like to go "purist" with these things and keep them all tube if possible.

I held on to all my old tubes, since there might always be a problem with one of the new ones, it's nice to have backup, even if they are a bit old and worn.

I have a 30-day guarantee, so I'm going to have to put a bit of mileage on these things in the next month, to give them a proper burn in, and see if there are any issues.

They all sound so cool that it probably won't be an issue. :D

The Princeton sounds better than at any time since I've had it. It has a shimmer that is totally sexy. And now the reverb and tremolo are working properly, which they never really have in the past. Even some of the grounding buzzes I used to get with this amp have cleared up. I did a full contact cleaning of each amp before switching the tubes too: all the switches, pots, and jacks got a full bathing and working out to remove grunge and oxidation.

My Music-Man amp is actually a bit quieter with the new tubes, which seems kinda odd, but has much better presence and attack. It was really starting to get mushy sounding.

Easy day at work. The band that rented the hall had all thier own tech people and they had all worked here before, so it was just a matter of setting them up and letting them go to it.

Sat in the office surfing the net most of the time. I should have watched more of the show, since I like the artist (Mary Black and her band) but there was just nowhere to sit, and I didn't want to stand the whole time.

We used to have a webcam pointed at the stage that I could call up on my computer screen and watch the show that way,.. but that stopped working a while back and we can't seem to get I.T. to come around and get it working again. Just not a priority I guess.
