The One Year Thread Redux

Recommended Posts

I stop lurking for a few weeks, and they completely redesign the whole damn board?

I see they finnally used that suggestion I gave for the XWA Banner, over a year ago...

Yes, I bought an ipod.

Blasphemy!

Ike: I recently had problems with a "CIDAEMON.EXE" sucking up every last bit of memory I had. It's for file indexing for "fast" searches(Like I ever use the search for something other than system files). Anyway, I disabled it and everything runs smoother than normal. Try that.

This way hotter girl in one of my classes told me that she's breaking up with her boyfriend. It seemed like a really random thing to tell someone.
maybe she just needed to vent. you don't want to ask a girl out right after she breaks up with someone. rebounds rarely work out.

It was like

Me: Hi

Her: Hi. How's it going?

Me: eh.

Her: I'm breaking up with my boyfriend.

Me: ?????

Apparently they've only been going out for like a month or so and she doesn't really like him. She said all he's into is "getting trashed" and that's not her thing. So its done.

Its been far too hot to sleep tonight, so all I did was sit around and think about how big a jerk that first girl was.

So what you're really saying is that the "Chez Ed" B&B is now open for business?

Might have to... I'm going to Florida to visit my dad for 2 weeks at the end of the month. Don't know how I'm gonna get all this stuff eaten by then.

Fortunately, I have a second freezer in the cellar.

Oh, breaking up with the boyfriend, eyh?

2 days ago, after six and a half years my girl came home and ripped my heart out. She spit on it and kicked it out of the closed window. She quit. She said she will move out as soon as possible. She met another guy one week ago. But that has nothing to do with that. She said she wanted to do that for a longer time now, but the new guy gave her the power to really do that. It's not that she hates me or such, in fact, she loves me for being such a good father and everything, it's just she doesn't loves me enough anymore to have a relationship with me. Also, she thinks she needs to live on her own, her own life so to say. Fu ck, she had any freedom and even support.

Then yesterday she came for a short talk and then went to him to stay overnight. Crap. I'm losing my love, and even worse my family, my daughter. I mean I will see her and stuff, but none of both will be there anymore when I wake up. I won't wake up at night because my daughter fell out of her bed. Or whatever. Also, I can't affort the flat on my own, so I'll have to move, too. The ill thing is 2 weeks ago we both paid 1000 bucks for our holidays in two weeks. One week ago everything still was fine. We even had a cool candlelight dinner. And by was fine I mean fine, "love you here, love you there, oh honeybunney", I literally woke up with her boobs in my face. I soo just don't get it. I'm completely lost about what's going on. I haven't slept for two days, I didn't eat, I listened two nights to the same damn 2 minutes something song. My heart's at 140 beats but my bloodpressure is practically nonexistent. And I'm shaking all the time. I'm a zombie or something. But most of all, I am sad. Very, very sad.

Don't know why I share, but I do, obviously. :(

that sucks.

i might be unable to get broadband due to the fact that they might not provide service where i'm at. guess i could just save up for that ar15, and hit the range every day if there's no way at all to get broadband. =\

pizza hut is alright. seems like they'd no problem giving me overtime...so now it's nearly impossible for me to be jobless. I passed all 3 of the tests they gave with 100%. the pizza dough is all going to be frozen, which is just weird.

Sorry to hear that Ray.

Don't know what else to say. I doubt anything I could say could really help anyway. That's rough, and it's going to be rough for a long time.

I hope things work out with seeing your daughter though.

I'd say "Come to the States and make a whole new start of it!" if it weren't for having your kid.

That sucks, indeed.

Feel free to PM me anytime you want to vent.

Think I got some poison ivy on my arm while I was out yesterday. Itchy itchy itchy. Dangitall to Heck!

I also just noticed that there are 2 new(-ish) threads up on the board besides this one. Huh. It's been so long since that has happened I almost don't know how to react. :D

I'm...here. I should probably get on the treadmill and get my exercise for the day now. Don't get much exercise sitting at a desk all day.

EDIT - Well, did my running and am heading to bed. I really, really hate running. Fortunately I have Star Trek: Deep Space Nine on DVD, so I pop those in while I'm running and it makes it a little better. I love that show and haven't seen it in a while, since it only comes on in the afternoon when I am at work. It wasn't even on at all for a long time.

Finding the time (and the will) to keep up with a regular exercise program is always a never-ending struggle with me. I do really well for a couple of weeks, then my work schedule gets crazy again with a lot of late nights in a row, then weeks (or months) pass, and I have to start over from the beginning.

That's the main reason I'll never be able to join a gym.

I lost track of Deep Space Nine after the first season. In fact, I think Next Generation was the last Star Trek franchise that I was actually able to keep track of for any length of time.

I should get a few of those series on DVD... they'll all be new to me.

The girl moved out so that's the end of that chapter.

DS9 is the best of all Star Treks. This is fact, not conjecture.

Holy cow.

She was getting more stuff out of her apartment to take to her new place and I was outside cleaning my grill so I could move it inside while I'm gone. We heard heavy piston engines in the distance and spied an aircraft in the distance. I suspected it was a B-25 because I couldn't see how many engines.

The piston engines returned and we were greeted by a B-17 flying low right over us. Then the B-25 came over and it turned out to be a B-24. Over the next 15 minutes, a B-17 and B-24 flew over four times each at under 500 feet. It was incredibly awesome. The B-17's last pass I managed to get a really lousy picture of.

There's only 14 flying B-17s left in the world and only one B-24.

I've been on the oddest musical kicks lately... For the last two days I've been listening to a combination of assorted country music, Simon & Garfunkel, Paul Simon's solo stuff, Crosby Stills Nash & Young (and various combinations of the four), and old Genesis stuff (like "Invisible Touch").

Please don't talk to me about music today...

Had to work a marathon concert last night. 13 different bands in over 3 hours, with a 2 hour soundcheck just before that. And when I say "different" I don't mean "13 different rock bands, but all pretty similar in setup"... oh noes, that would be much too simple for poor old edlib. I mean: "We started with a big band, progressed through an all acoustic bluegrass vocal band, had a 2 guitar metal rock fest, a big reggae group, a flat out hip-hop troupe with DJ, an 8-voice A Capella jazz group, and ended up with an African drum ensemble. Oh,.. and did I mention the 50-voice choir?"

Oh yeah, and make us a seperate CD for each and every band, plus a master tape for backup, cuz it's not like you really have all that much to think about or deal with otherwise. Mmmmmkay? Thanks.

I swear,.. I simply don't get paid enough for what I do. Needless to say, I am pretty damn burnt out this morning.

I think i just passed my statistics class. i find out tomarrow some time.

I hate waiting for grade, kinda unnerves me and i smoke more. which is unhealthy.

AND i think i have a super mild form of asthema. It kinda hurts to breathe after running around when it's really humid, but only when it's really humid. Like i can run around work all day on a nice, cool, dry day and not feel like someone is pressing a ton of bricks on my chest, but on a humid day, oh god...

it sucks.

Oh well. It's not like it happens all the time.

and 40 minute drives with out cruise control suck.

I rarely use cruise control simply because I just love driving.

I'll use it occasionally during the rare occasions when I've only got one hand available. You know... Eating, getting a call on the cell without somewhere pull over, hangin' the MAC10 out the window. It's one less thing to think about so I can put that little extra focus into watching the road.

And on that note, I'm going back to bed... Played a little poker with the boys last night, and ended up shotgunning Molson Cold Shots (a nice little 6% beer with a can that's taylor-made for shotgunning) and now I'm feelin' like I got run over by the entire Soviet Red Army.

I've been listening to...old Genesis stuff (like "Invisible Touch").
That's not the OLD Genesis stuff. That's technically new Genesis stuff. When you start listening to The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway album or Selling England by the Pound or Foxtrot, then that's *old* Genesis.

If Steve Hackett isn't on guitars, then it is "new" Genesis.

An excellent point... However Invisible Touch is the oldest album I've got on CD (and thus ripped onto my PC), so if I wanted to go any older I'd have to venture downstairs, blow the dust off my turntable, and go digging through the vinyl rack. I know I've got Selling England By The Pound, Nursery Cryme, and Trespass, and I'm fairly sure I've got Foxtrot... Never did find From Genesis To Revelation, though, and buying it online takes all the fun out of finding it in a crate in the back room some indie music store on a Saturday afternoon.

I grew up in a pretty musically diverse home... If you walked into my house on any given day back in the 80's, in the run of an hour you'd probably hear Peter Gabriel, Chris de Burgh, John Denver, Paul Simon, Boston, and Rod Stewart. I found metal and country all by myself, but everything else was introduced to me by family members...

In related news, I went downstairs yesterday (it's past midnight here now) afternoon and put on Trespass while I made lunch, and in a spur of the moment decision I went out to Future Shop (Canada's version of Best Buy) and FGTR on cd... I'd forgotten how much I liked it. Got Trespass and Nursery Cryme too so I could rip 'em to PC, and be able to listen to 'em in the car.

I'll still be cratediving for the LP, but at least now I can listen to it without having to harass someone into loaning it to me.
